Everything about the AFCCG was amazing from a Patriots perspective...except for these guys. But especially Simms. I'm not sure if it's the CTE or he's just incompetent in what he does, but it was quite clear that the quality of information and color analysis was sorely lacking. And we as Patriots fans weren't the only ones who noticed.
Uh..yeah.
Subs work that way. ALL. THE. TIME.
And then this....
Both guys were "confused" as to what had happened. Of course there was no fumble; Brady lost control of the ball AFTER he was down by contract, THEN the Steeler "came away with the ball". This is what the refs KNEW, but simply failed to explain it over the speaker system. Clueless. Then afterward, Nantz admitted he was wrong by saying "My bad." Yeah, that'll do it.
This was a gem.....
And many more like this.
At 36-17 with just over two minutes left, Phil was saying "This isn't over".
And my personal favorite: Simms said Chris Hogan is nicknamed 7/11 because he's always open "at night". (Of course it's really because he's ALWAYS OPEN).
All of this being said, it was better than Fouts which is saying something. Blowout or not, your job is to add clarity and, most importantly be coherent, as a broadcaster. These guys simply failed that test. Thank goodness FOX does the SB this year!
