PFT: Bill "has shopped" Mac

As @Ross12 noted, an agent - if that is indeed the case - is different from a GM, a coach, etc. But in general, it’s typically bad for business for teams to leak being approached about something given that they too could someday be in a similar position and not want it out there.
I totally agree with the bad business part. What I find fishy is that this singing agent only talked to one source because no one else is reporting it from other sources. I hate hearing I got it from a source who got it from his source. But no ther sources involved

Tough to say. This is sort of like some of the others we’ve heard where it’ll probably play itself out and we’ll find out more at some point. But Kyed’s account makes sense and he’s not one to make anything up, and it matches some of the things we already know.

I’ve been among those downplaying Belichick’s comments but this report - specifically Kyed’s - sort of changed my thinking. And I do believe there’s some validity to it based on other things we’ve heard. My biggest question is whether it’ll become water under the bridge, or if it will potentially become more than that. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

This teams headed for a top 10 pick in next years draft. I know there’s a lot of time between now and the start of the season but man what a dysfunctional team they’ve become. Never thought I’d see this under BB.

One way or another hopefully Mac just bonds with BOB and we see if he is the player we hoped he could be.
If he isn‘t then we move on. Mac deserved better coaching last year but he should have never went looking outside the Organization for help. Maybe BB sent out feelers with no intention to trade Mac (unless of course an offer he could not refuse which was not going to happen with Mac’s uncertainty) to give Mac a bit of a butt kicking while hoping it lights a fire under him. Just don’t believe he was ever getting traded. As Gronk said that would bring so much more uncertainty with an all ready large turnover on the Offensive side of the ball

This stuff is part-and-parcel with the media BS.

Indulging a ridiculous, unknowable claim that’s bombastic, controversial, and generates a lot of attention. This is something, verbatim, that would probably come out of F&M’s mouths.

Before voluntary OTAs, before mandatory OTAs, before minicamp, before training camp, before a single joint practice or preseason game, let alone a meaningful regular season snap, we’re looking at a top-10 pick in 2024?

Heck, the 2023 draft hasn’t even happened yet, and you’re telling us the team is fast-tracked for a top-10 pick in 2024?

Good grief.

Other supporting evidence:

Bill- everyone will play (fails to commit to Mac Jones)

Hoyer released supposedly because he did not like offense last year and Mac asked him for advice

Curran- Bill is still pissed about Mac seeking advice last year outside the organization

yes we do not have absolute confirmation from another GM...how often do you get that.
This story 100% is aligned with everything else going on
Mac was smart as a second year NFL QB to ask for help outside the Patriots. My guess is that he asked around if anyone had an old Crown Vic he could borrow to push into the swamp between Lynn and Revere with Judge and Patricia in the trunk.

I said it’s early but yeah, if I had to guess I think they finish last in the division with a top 10 pick. They’re a dysfunctional team that’s missing high end talent

FWIW, Bedard said he spoke to two of the teams that were mentioned in the original story and they denied knowing anything about it.
Worth remembering that the original story said “the list of teams isn’t known, but potential destinations include…”

That’s agent speak for “I don’t know who the Patriots talked to, but here are some places I can think of that my client would like to be traded to.”

No surprise those teams would deny it if they legitimately did not speak to NE. The source (agent) doesn’t know who NE spoke to.

The source (if there was one), could possibly have been Mac's agent, and .....................

What are you a lawyer. He said Several. Take it how you want. He would have said 2 from your scenario
Do you have any references of any team leaking that they were approached by the Patriots.
Pretty common in this day and age, if Mac was shopped then teams would be singing like canaries
Hah - if I were a lawyer, I would've realized yesterday that several technically means more than 2 or a few but not many.

Not sure about the canaries part. It's still before the draft, and a lot of teams are going to want to keep their cards close to the vest and deny deny deny. I don't know what's going on with the Pats, though.

I also look at the teams rumored and denied it those are all gms who were in New England they don’t want to break the relationship with Bill by blabbing.

I think I read these same "denier" GMs offered up sneak peaks of their draft boards to reporters who called in to the teams' Full Disclosure Hot Lines.

Best news all offseason.

Gives me hope for the 2023 season knowing that Corky Jones is on a short leash and that he will will be yanked out if he does not deliver.

I hope, and could buy, that this is all BS. But if it is not, as a "homer" and and "Bill and Tom" guy:
-- I would be disturbed that Hoyer and possibly others might have been shipped out for speaking out (really, what century are we in here?)
-- I would be disturbed that Mac's behavior is seen as insubordinate -- getting a little mad at times and seeking external advice hardly seems like a crime.
-- I would be disturbed if Patricia wiggles back in, and that Judge is back and even allowed within state lines.

Again, if true, we're cleaning the wrong people out.

So all of a sudden the Patriots have stopped signing free agents and no word we are in on anyone out there.

Are we totally on the draft or are we gearing up for a trade or two?
Something has got to give.

By the way I think we can kiss Hopkins away without 100 percent guarantee who the QB will be how can we sell him over KC or Buff?

I believe every teams main focus is solely on the draft at this point. If any major trades go down it’ll be during the draft or the days leading up to it.

Then you won't be disappointed when he's holding a clipboard by 2025.
Of course I would be. I want him to become great. And if he can't become great, I want Zappe to become great.

And etc.
Because I want my hometown teams to become great, always. And unlike Boston sports "journalists," I'm happy that the Bruins are kicking ass and Pasternak is lighting up opposing teams' nets, and happy that the Celtics have a shot at a title...

Being a fan - an actual, rooting, cheering, appreciative of the good times fan - is a joy.

You should try it sometime.
