Peyton as next Colt's GM?

Well he'd have Vinatieri for at least one more year, so he wouldn't have to worry about signing some "idiot kicker".

"I'll take the job, but only if I can still shill for Papa John's. That garbage pizza isn't going to sell itself, you know."

Why would anyone think that Peyton would be a good GM???

Maybe it came to Irsay in an opium dream?? it seemed like such a great idea..

Former QB John Elway has had success with his former team. Maybe Peyton could hire Curtis Painter as his head coach, like Elway.

From Wiki:
"Elway hired Gary Kubiak, his former backup quarterback and former Broncos offensive coordinator, as the new head coach for the 2015 season. "

I know people will point to the Elway comp as evidence that Peyton could be a successful GM, but that undersells the amount of work that Elway put in before he became GM. It didn't just happen, he worked hard to become a strong evaluator of talent, completely independent of his time spent being a QB.

Here's a pretty good article summarizing it: How John Elway made a successful front-office transition.

He was previously the CEO of an Arena league team, he won AFL executive of the year, and acknowledges that this is where he basically learned to work in a football FO, and even then he was still out of his depth and spent his early time with the Broncos acknowledging how little he knew and seeking advice. Somehow I doubt Manning would do the same.

I think Manning is too smart to go to the pill addict, but hey, maybe he thinks he can control him.

That suggests the question: Is there another team Peyton would take the role of GM?

I don't eat there anyway because their pizza is terrible. But who is Jerrah?

Actually, that name should go on the bad word filter. Owner of the Cowboys that for 20+ years trying to win fantasy football without a stand up coach or professional GM. I attribute the Cows success this season to his son Stephen doing the real GM work. Ever since Jerry Jones parted with Jimmy Johnson, he desperately has tried to prove he can make a champion on his expertise alone, and reminds everybody he utterly does not have a clue. Got to make this rant short.
