Pete Carroll: Without Stokley we would have kept Branch

Re: Pete Carroll: Without Stokely we would have kept Branch

And he is a weasel.

But that is precisely the point. Do you want a mystery bag where even the second round picks (Jackson, Bethel) or top veteran recweivers might return zero, or do you take exactly what you need when you need it?

I can't believe people argue against this, but they do.

The only purpose of the NFL draft is to improve your team and the sooner you do, the more valuable a pick is.

If you pay $20,000 for an $18,000 car, you overpaid. It doesn't matter if the car is just like the one you used to have, or if it handles so well that you feel a 'oneness' with it. You may be content enough that the extra 2 grand doesn't bother you, and that's your right, but you still overpaid.

Re: Pete Carroll: Without Stokely we would have kept Branch

This is why I think the front office should have pulled the trigger on the move before Moss was traded so Seattle couldn't snuff out our desperation.

Then the likelihood is Moss would have seen what was coming and gone ballistic, so the Pats would have had to deal him for less, or outright cut him. My understanding is this was a preemptive trade on the part of the Pats.

So you'd pay $18,000 for a car you hate, because they were asking $20,000 for your favorite model on the lot equipped exactly as you'd like.

I suppose, no accounting for reasoning, it's your money.

By the way, that type of reasoning is why Americans have closets full of clothes, gadgets, etc. that seemed like great deals at the time, but collect dust after brief use.

I think Carroll and BB talk. I wouldn't be surprised this was discussed prior to the Moss trade.

I think it is called being "politically correct"....all the mediots were saying when this trade happened, that the hawks were not utilizing branch as much in the offense this year...especially since stokley came on board....and they prob would have moved him anyways....but when pats came calling....perfect situation ...I hope he comes back and tears it up for pats.....but right now Carroll looks like a genius

disagree...I think they're pathologically crippled

Re: Pete Carroll: Without Stokely we would have kept Branch

Using past drafts as a reference, BB can slide down a couple slots with any of his 2 #1s or 2 #2 draft picks and recoup this #4 without working up a sweat. No worries at all. In fact, with a roster full of rookies and sophmores now, I fully expect BB to use more picks for trades to fill in holes for the next SB run.

Well this is a very good point....BB can and will mist likely pick up more picks by wheeling and dealing...so despite the fact that a 4th rounder seems way too high for meion...we will rack up more late picks by trading down anyways....good points

I wasn't aware Belichick and Carroll had any kind of relationship. Especially considering they are both defensive gurus who come out of different trees, and run defensive bases that couldn't be more different (2-gap 3-4 vs. 4-3 under).

and besides...BB doesn't take his players out bowling and for pizza.

If you pay 20 for something that's worth 18, you overpaid. Your love/hatred of that product is irrelevant. As I noted, you might be content with overpaying. You still overpaid.
