not really concerned with the Special Teams & Defensive penalties... am concerned with the calls on offense though... 5 of the 8 penalties on offense were on the line... usually OL penalties are drive killers... its important that they get these under control... Last week i think thelinewas limited to two penalties (campbell & wilson)... Both were repeat offenders this week...

The biggest change of form came from RT Morgan Moses... he had the flag dropped on him three times today... All from the shotgun... last week he had a clean game... is this just an instance of being on the road, maybe it was a bit louder than it was in week 1, or is this something we need to worry about moving forward? or is it 'eh, **** happens' and there is no need to worry unless it happens again...

.

Knowing Moses was dealing with an ankle all week then hearing he's in a boot after the game I think it's easy to give him a pass. Gutsy day for him.
thanks... was unaware he was in a boot all week... thought that was an after game development

Having a bad ankle doesn't make you false start. Actual blocking I thought he did a pretty decent job.

The boot I think was new but the injury was not

Its not like a cause and effect but pain certainly can impact someone's concentration

Three thoughts.

1. I’m really surprised a Vrabel coached team is suffering with these penalty issues. With his emphasis on football intelligence and character, you’d have thought he’d have zeroed in on this.

2. A number of rookie penalties which worry me less. Rookie jitters.

3. If any problem is fixable, I would think it’s this so I’m not too worried for now.

all three penalties were pass blocking... trying to get set before the rush came
And the Miami defenders on the inside DL were shifting. Moses might have been trying to anticipate their stunts too early, especially with his gimpy ankle.

Yeah... watched Moses post game interview and he took direct accountability.. the veterans definitely need to clean up the penalties.. not that players should make excuses as they are professionals however the Miami humidity is a real element to have to overcome.. and it directly impacts a players focus

I’m concerned as I think bad teams make many penalties. Hope it gets cleaned up as the season progresses.

Listening to Vrabel's interview on weei he brought up how the weather was a real factor and definitely affected the players.. penalties are about focusing.. if you notice whenever thier are games in cold weather or hot humidity there seems to be alot if penalties on both teams. Yes, im not worried going forward.

On the defensive side. Hard to complain they lead the NFL in sacks through week 2.. I dont think we had 9 sacks until like week 7 or 8 last season.. without Gonzo the secondary is going to give up plays so that's to be expected. I love Vrabel's coaching philosophy on rookies.. a coach is supposed to instill confidence and belief in the players... going back to borregales for that 53 yarder was huge. Speaks to Vrabel's coaching acumen.

It was incredibly frustrating. Looking forward to seeing how they bounce back next week, big test for Vrabel and co to see how they fix this

The Henry Illegal Shift call was absolute ******** refball.

The refs weren't great in this one. Schooler got blocked in the back twice during the Dolphins TD kick return. They also upheld a bad catch call on review, no less, where it was clear the ball came out. Overall, I'd give these refs a C-.

You are right that these mental error penalties are tied to coaching. Even though things were still no where close to where they need to be, yesterdays game restored my confidence in the coaching staff. The improvement in the teams focus and effort from game 1 to game 2 I was encouraging. These issues should be resolved over the coming weeks, in meantime let's hope that the team is developing the mental toughness to overcome adversity.

Officiating across the NFL has been a joke.

The Chiefs got screwed (about time) like the Ravens did vs the Bills om SNF.

The Eagles did a Tush Push on 4th and 1 and it did not appear that Hurts made it. KC would have gotten the ball back. The Refs signaled 1st down anyway and immediately spotted the ball for the next play. Reid was going nuts on the sideline.

It appeared that the Ravens got screwed when they downed the ball at the Bills 1 yard line, but the Refs said that the Ravens player arm touched the goal line. That was not clear IMO, but the Refs rushed to judgment calling it a touchback.

In both instances the team that benefited by the call won.
