Pay the money and go to the games

For every douchebag fan that goes to the game there's five that would love to be there not boo and stay until the end. Just because you paid for the tickets doesn't mean you aren't acting like an ass, and just because you are okay with the fairweathered morons who act that way doesn't mean you are sticking up for the common man. Nobody's being an "internet hero" whatever that means, they're just calling spoiled a-holes out for being spoiled a-holes.

For all those internet heroes calling out the fans at Gillette on Sunday you can all GFY.

The Pats played like garbage and deserved the boos. If you don't like it buy a ticket and go to a game.

I'm sure your "support the team, don't boo" stuff will go over well when you are sitting in the stands.

I was'nt there, but here - have some GFY yourself.

Yes..a "fan" pays money and goes and can do what they like...show what they are by booing OR leaving..But what does that REALLY say about their fandom? Maybe paper thin? less than what many REAl fans are?? As to the poster's GFY..all I can say is that you have shown what u triuly are..wear that badge proudly!!

There is nothing wrong with booing a team when they are getting hammered by the worst team in the NFL. It comes with the territory ladies and gents. When a team is down by several td's and there is no way they can come back, there is nothing wrong with heading out of the game early. I wonder how many of you have careers that require a lot of dedication, families to take care of, and other important issues that cannot afford you to be gone from 7am - 10pm (if there is absolutly no way a team is going to come back).

A lot of the heroes in this thread would have a point if it was a meaningful game that fans where leaving in the fourth, if it was a close game, or the pats where playing their hearts out. None of those factors came into play last Sunday, and frankly I think Hobbs and Watson are bafoons for making the comments that they did. Watson can't even stay healthy, and he has dropped more key passes than I can remember, and the fans still cheer him.

I spend thousands of dollars on tickets every year, and the last thing I want to do is watch my favorite team make a mockery of themselves vs the worst team in the NFL. For the record, I left with 4 min on the clock, but I didn't blame those who wanted to reduce their travel time by at least a few hours by leaving early. This is a man's game, and these men should be able to take a few boo's. They deserved it, and they should use it to motivate themselves for the next game.

The web is great; a bunch of arm-chair qb's standing on their soap box's preaching about a game they most likley didn't even go to. For those who are calling certain fans spoiled, why didn't you buy season tickets back when they where cheap, and the patriots sucked? I bought mine when they where horrible, and I got them very cheap. Guess you guys didn't care so much then, huh?!

Geez, you have a lot to learn about professional football and the men who play it. Just goes to show that "paying thousands of dollars on tickets every year" doesn't make one any smarter when it comes to understanding what's going on.

Let me ask you: What kinds of mini tantrums do you throw in other walks of life when things don't go your way after laying down the dough? Do you stand up and boo a bad movie at the theater, or boo the wife for burning a casserole? Booing the home team serves no purpose beyond giving voice to frustration. It is childish and ignorant. Period.

I left the game with four min to go in the fourth Q. Thats early to you? Your break-down of my post shows you totally missed the point, and your a massive homer. Poor pats heard some boo's when they played the worst game I have ever seen, oh my!!!!! I dont know if they will ever recover!

For the record I didn't boo, my point was that I had no problem with those who did.

OK - so this was an official "No Boo Game Because the Team is Coming off a 21 Game Winning Streak Except for the Super Bowl" - I get it now.

The fact that it was the worst loss in the history of Gillette Stadium or in an entire decade seems irrelevant. There were clearly NO circumstances in which it was politically correct to Boo on Sunday.

Aside from being sick to my stomach that the terms "politically correct" has any role in NFL football, I get it.

So now the streak is over.

If the Patriots play even FURTHER below their capabilities against the 49ers - let's just say they lose by 60 points or something.... would it still be politically incorrect to boo?

Yup, I'm a massive homer. I'd be an idiot paying what I do for season tickets if I wasn't. What's missing in your "point" is any explanation of how booing helps a team perform better. I know for a fact it doesn't, but give it a shot anyway.

It's not a question of political correctness, more a question of whether you truly understand what's going on before and during games. Players and coaches have a much greater stake in performing well than fans have in seeing a good performance. The pressure they're under to win is much greater than any displeasure imparted by booing fans. Booing doesn't help, it only hurts, and is a childishly ignorant reaction to not "getting your way."

I'm pretty sure the 49ers fans will be cheering with their team up 60 points.

For all of the thought process you put into making excuses for those that left early - you surely didn't leave much thinking for your last statement!

How about these for the following:

1. Age - I am 29 and wasn't able to purchase season tickets in 1994.
2. Distance - Some people actually moved away from where they grew up.
3. Some don't have the financial resources to purchase single game tickets let alone season tickets.
4. Young children and don't have a babysitter
5. Elderly
6. Health
7. Work

Those are just few without putting to much thought into it.

When did I call you an idiot? Way to claim I'm insulting you when I'm not! When did I say booing a team helped them win? Again, your speaking for me in a negative light and painting an incorrect picture of my original statement. I dont have a problem with fans booing a team when they play so poorly, that the worst team in the NFL is hammering them at home. The pats didn't even looked like the had an interest in playing the game. Thats my opinion, and I'm entitled to it. I didn't even boo them for crying out loud, all I said was that I didn't have a problem with those who did, and stated why case as to why I formed that opinion.

I dont agree with you one bit. Btw, your false claims and attitude towards my opinon has "childish" and "not getting your way" written all over it.

He didn't say you called him an idiot. He simply said he would be an idiot for paying such a large amount of money on season tickets if he wasn't a Pats homer.

Now back to the regularly scheduled argument.....

Re-read what I wrote. I didn't accuse you of calling me an idiot or insulting me. You're defending those who booed, but haven't given a real reason why. You say the Pats "didn't look like they had an interest in playing the game." What I saw was a team that was thoroughly BEATEN physically and strategically. It happens that way sometimes in the NFL, where the differences between the worst teams and best teams aren't really that great.

Frankly, I am surprised that one who has been a fan for a long time..has that little appreciation for the franchise. yes, I understand why many left..there are always reasons.."they stink let's leave"..good excuses. And boo?? So that is all just it?? They play ONE game poorly and boo?? I would think someone who has been a fan for a long time would understand how this period of time ahs been the best for the franchise...no?? and with a sn of Patslifer?? That seems like an oxymoron in my opinion. It's a man's game..well you act more like a fairweather fan..and frankly I don't care HOW many years you have had tickets for..Frankly.. this franchise deserves a lot better than what I saw on Sunday. As to your pronouncements of others.. should we make the same assumptions about you??
As an addendum...having read that you did not boo..that is good..but why do you think it's OK?? How do you look at those that boo as fans? More fairweather fans than not?? Less of a fan? Or? Just curious how you view those that boo so vehemently? I am sure you have opinions. I just see those that boo are reactive to a VERY short window of what they see and the world would be in a LOT of trouble if that was the standard that applied. To me it's more like a 2 year old where there is no perspective at all..all emotion and no brains. Do you agree or???

Well, I lived in the U.K. Tough commute ...

You might want to Google a guy named Bill Parcells who's famous for using negative comments to positively motivate players.

(That's what "she" said!)

Apples and oranges, my friend.

Did you notice that it says he was a coach?? Or did u miss that one..

I've really got to say I've got the exact opposite reaction of most of the people here.

It absolutely DISGUSTS me to think that there are fans and players alike who have got such thin skin and have become so politically correct that they are actually trying to tell other fans when they should and shouldn't boo

Back in my day, people who wanted to cheer, cheered... people who wanted to boo, booed.

No one wasted any time giving any thought - let alone telling others how the "right" way to express themselves was - especially when they have a home loss that's so bad it only comes once every ten years.

Um, no Pats726, I was aware that Bill Parcells was a coach. What are you implying?

Tunescribe can't see how negative feedback from the fans might somehow rev up the team and get them to wake up and begin to play up to their capabilities. It's the crowd telling them - "That's NOT the type of play we expect from the New England Patriots."

They're right - That's NOT the type of play we expect. So what's so abhorrently wrong with some fans who want to express that?

Do I really need to go into detail of the similar, if not very same, psychology used by Parcells as a Coach and the Crowd as a the 12th Man?

Obviously no one's going to Cheer the team when they are playing as poorly as they are. The best one could hope for is dead silience. How you feel that's more of a motivator than booing, I'm not sure, but I'll tell you - you have the WORST home loss in the history of Gilette Stadium - the worst loss since 1998 - and if you're a player you need to not only expect boos, you need to accept the boos and play better so you never hear them again.
