The thing is, I trust BB. He makes the right decisions, doesn't let emotion ruin it for him. Better to let him go a little too soon than a little too late (because a little too late means after signing that 5 year deal that just put you in cap hell--cough cough Jets Revis).

With Jamie Collins contract coming up, he was at one point asking for what one league source described as “Von Miller money." Von: 6-$114.5M

And pats were offering him 11mil per year. If he wanted Von Miller money than he should singlehandedly destroy Seattle and not letting Seattle to return at the end, and not allow 14points last year. Von miller earn money because last year playoff run.

So basically, Collins wanted two contracts. The Pats' $11 million per year offer would have made Collins the second highest paid non-rush linebacker behind Kuechlt. At $19 million per year, Collins was asking to paid like the #2 and #9 off-the-line linebackers combined.

If the Browns don't get a comp 3rd, it becomes their 4th. And since we're losing out highest 4th round pick due to Deflategate, that means we'd effectively be getting him for a pick at the end of the 4th.

So we'd better hope the Browns' FA strategy this offseason is conducive to getting a 3rd round comp pick, because if they don't we just traded Collins for a pick at the end of the 4th.

The way cleveland is operating they probably aren't going to pay him so they only have collins for eight games.
Plus if they had gotten a second BB would have used it on a D-back no one has ever heard of.

So, this goes along with what Lombardi tweeted earlier, imho, in that Collins wasn't buying the team strategy.

If Loyko isn't just copying what Volin was saying it also aligns to what Volin was tweeting earlier that Collins rejected a $11 million per offer. I'm not blaming Collins for seeking the most money he can make, but $11 million per is a very fair offer (unless of course the guarantees were way low).

Some people get too hung up on physical skills (which are obviously important) and completely ignore intangibles (which are also very important.) You can have all the athletic ability in the world, but if you can't consistently stay motivated, you aren't of that much use to anyone.

Watch Roberts play out of his mind for the remainder of the season (he has already been playing well) as Bill makes the football world look stupid once again.

I don't think that it's an odd sentiment at all. However, he could have done it "his way" while playing outstanding football the Patriots way.. And that is the difference. If you aren't willing to do the work that is needed to make your teammates around you better, than you'll only end up hurting your team.

Perhaps Loyko just copied what Volin tweeted, but if he's gotten the info seperately it fits what Volin and Schefter have been saying regarding the contract talks. Volin earlier said $11 million offer rejected as well and Schefter said Collins is seeking "Von Miller money".

I honestly have no problem with this. There's no way the patriots would pay a Franchise Tag fee for him next year, and he was wanting much more for a contract than what New England valued him at.

Better to trade now and get something, than to watch him walk after the season and get nothing.

This is exactly the type of moronic nonsense that makes us a perpetual 11-14 win team but unable to get over the hump and actually win a Superbowl. Two 0f the three times Bill actually went for it (2002 with Rodney and all those guys and 2014 with Revis) we won a title/titles.

Yet somehow he doesn't get that leaving yourself incredibly thin at one position will cost you in the playoffs. We gave away Jones and now we can't get within 5 yards of any QB. Now Collins is gone. And he never gets anything in return for these guys. I don't care about PPG, this is clearly one of the worst defenses in football. It cannot be trusted to hold up against a strong playoff opponent.

Bill just doesn't get that it's better to be great for a short period than mediocre for a one period. Bill's philosophy builds teams that are good, but not great. They always have one fatal flaw. It's getting old.

I don't think van Noy had anything to do with it. He's just LB depth. If they hadn't gotten van Noy they'd just have picked up another JAG.

SMH.. You're misinterpreting what I said. It was them getting another LB that was my point. And don't be so sure that they'd have been able to get one. In case you missed it, BB mentioned earlier that finding teams to trade with has been extremely hard.
