PATS TRADE JAMIE COLLINS!!!

Will get most of JC's snaps.

The Patriots have obviously been preparing for this eventuality since the spring. Signing McClellin to a moderately large deal, trading for Mingo, and the emergence of Roberts all made Collins expendable. They only play two linebackers, and Roberts and McClellin have been playing a fair amount. Hightower's obviously the superstar in the linebacking corps, even if he doesn't have Collins' insane measurables.

And I do think Curran is right, Collins, the ultra-athletic super-linebacker couldn't cover a slow, old, broken down tight end in the playoffs. Something was up with that.

I'd be happy if Thomas had come back for Collins, but there are worse things than a 3rd round pick.

I'll be honest. I think that the only way that Collins get's traded is that the Pats got Van Noy. Otherwise, I don't think it happens. I'm not saying that Van Noy, by himself, replaces Collins, but I think that Bill doesn't make the trade otherwise.

I don't believe McClellin's signing had any bearing on them trading Collins. Especially since McClellin has been lining up more at DE than at LB.

I really gotta go change my avi now... My favorite defensive player in the NFL, and maybe my favorite Patriot that isn't Brady or Gronk, is now a Cleveland Brown...

How does life go on?

You could become a Clevelan Browns fan... (I kid. I kid.)

There is more to the story that we will neve

I was in the hospital last February and 1 of my nurses who is also from Mississippi who said she was best friends with JC said the same thing about him not liking the North East.
Understandable. Enjoy Cleveland. The weather and cultural scene is awesome there.

Thats how I felt about talib but I kept the Avi anyways... F#ck it.

Except this must literally be what Belichick is thinking. He wouldn't make this trade for giggles.

From what has been reported, it's very likely this is the case. That Collins was free-lancing more than what was going to be tolerated and the Pats were finally fed up with it. I'm sure that the reported contract demands (be it $14M or $19M) didn't help matters since I don't believe the Patriot, under Belichick, have ever come close to paying someone that much more than what the Pats think the player is worth.

Fair enough, but I'd be disappointed if they traded Edelman for the same reason too. Edelman is underperforming but they are still better off with him than without him.

But anyways, I think I can leave it with something we can both agree on........it's just disappointing that it has come to this. As a 7-1 team in obvious contention it would have been nice to be a 'buyer' at the trade deadline and getting some talent re-enforcements like when we Talib. Even if the Pats make another move it will still probably be a net loss in talent. Hopefully I'm wrong though. Another day will tell.
I'm not sure a guy who's on pace for 82 receptions on a team this loaded with weapons can really be labeled as 'underperforming'.

anyone have the link to the vid of the 1st play against buffalo yesterday? i don't remember where it was lol

Watch Felger say he likes this trade because the public opinion is against it. "Belichick realized his mistake that he took a bust and fixed it..."

Haha. Felger is actually kind of doing this.

I actually said the same thing during the game yesterday.

I'm upset at trading what Collins was and could be. If the player we traded wasn't named Jamie Collins and was based on only this year, I'd be like "meh."

Couldn't we have gotten more for him than a 3rd? Damnit.

Per my Collins source: Collins turned down 11 million per year and recently got into a heated argument with Patricia recently
If thats true then he punched his ticket to cleveland. Its also a warning to other players, if you want top dollar you at least have to play at a top dollar level and you can't be insubordianant to the coachs.

So, this goes along with what Lombardi tweeted earlier, imho, in that Collins wasn't buying the team strategy.

They should have sat his ass down and played him the video of Junior Seau talking about buying into the Patriots philosophy. If as HOF like Seau says that's what you need to do to be successful here, then that's what you need to do..

I don't think van Noy had anything to do with it. He's just LB depth. If they hadn't gotten van Noy they'd just have picked up another JAG.

Why isn't Haden or Thomas a Patriot yet?
