Haven't read through all 25 pages of this thread, but to me, this is the most mind boggling move of the Belichick era, without equal. I understand they probably weren't going to be able to resign him, but we are halfway through the season, USE him, and then lose him. Who cares about the draft choice we got in return. Could've used his talent to help the defense, and try to win the SB. This hurts the defense immensely. Unless BB feels Mingo or Van Noy (who didn't even play) can pick up the slack for Collins. But at worst, Collins was the Pat's 2nd best LB or 3rd best defender, at best, he was their best defender. Totally shocked by this. Can't believe the horrible return we got on one of the best defenders in football.

Cue the, we made the move we thought will make our team better.

It's a conditional pick for a third round compensatory pick. Here's the condition: If the Browns get a third round compensatory pick, the Pats get it. If they don't, they get the Browns fourth round pick.

If that is the case, then if the Browns don't get a third round comp pick, the league will take that 4th rounder and they have traded Collins for what will end up being a late 4th round pick.

Please someone tell me this is not true, they couldn't have made that bad of a trade.
