The more salary the Lions eat, the better the trade comp. Still hard to see how the Pats (or most other teams) take on his salary. His remaining 2021 cap hit is about $10.5m.
Right, the ultimate issue is his remaining 2021 cap charge. His 2022 roster bonus of 1.625m is fully guaranteed at this point, but his base salary is not (info per overthecap). So Pats could cut him without issue in the offseason and only be on the hook for that 1.625m. But they can’t fit his remaining 2021 base salary into their cap without reworking his deal (or someone else’s).

FWIW, Bedard said his sources around the league says the Pats won't be making any trades and if they do it will be for a DE who can play on both run and passing downs.

Just asked Mark to clarify
So JC will "Use the Schwartz" in his negotiations.

Just looking....So Revis is suing this guy and last year Logan Ryan dumped him but had him when he left here for TN.

Here is the thing.....

I don't think the NEP will be buyers in next year's FA market which means any players whos contract expire will be comp-pick eligible.

The only players I see as possibly fetching us picks are High, DMC and JC.

Lots of unknowns but if BB thinks this team has a shot at making it out of the AFC, they need a better than average boundary CB to help deal with Allen, Mahomes, etc.
yeah, totally agree. The Pats blew their ...ahem, this past off-season and not sure BB wants to go to salary cap hell. We won't be buyers and there aren't that many players we can cut to create a lot of cap space. There's obviously some but not enough imo.

If BB can't trade for a corner or WR today the good thing for us is that the 2022 draft is loaded with depth (other than a couple of positions) and several CB's available in the top 2 rounds. We all know how well BB drafts DB's in the second round. Good year to trade back in a deep draft lol.

Doesn't look like a good idea for either side.

I hear Upton has really lowered her standards in recent years. So I am saying you have a shot.

It is unlikely that they would trade to the Pats, but I don't think it is as ridiculous to think as it would have been in the past. I think the hatred between the two teams have cooled a bit. And with Crowder being a free agent after the season, the trade wouldn't help the Pats beyond this year and the Jets are out of playoff contention anyway.
54 new insults may have rekindled it recently.

if nothing else the Jetes FO has to consider how fans would respond. I don’t think they’ll want to pour salt on the recent wound.

Pretty boring trade deadline and teams love their picks (exceptt the Rams). Can't believe we gave up a 2nd rounder for Sanu a few years back. Feels like we could land almost anyone for a 2nd right now.

NFL trade deadlines are usually pretty boring. There aren’t many player for player trades. Only about five teams at most think they’re out of it, given the extra playoff spot.

The Pats have had some pretty boring trades at the trade deadline that turned into impact players like Van Oy.

Odds are good that you are not going to see a marquee player traded at the trade deadline in the NFL, but a smart team can get an impact player who may be misused by another team. But those are rare.

I love Thuney but wasting 15M of Cap on a one yr rental for a guard in a wasted season was a big mistake. One of the biggest roster building mistakes BB made knowing rebuild was coming up and Tom was gone. (interesting that Thuney signed FT on March 19 and Tom for Tampa on 20th)
I disagree.. The Pats attempted to keep Thuney this year as well and, by all accounts it came down to the Chiefs and Pats for Thuney's decision. He chose the Chiefs. I honestly believe they'd have put him at Center and not brought back Andrews if they had. Thuney was that much of a game changer for the Pats. And maybe that move was something that Thuney didn't want to do. Who knowns.

What I do know is that based on PFF, Onwenu and Mason are rated higher than Thuney and Karras is right there with Thuney.

Also, Brady had already informed the team that he wouldn't be returning a few days prior to Thuney being tagged.

Flowers salary for 2021 is $14,375,000. There are 18 game checks this year. He's received 8. That leaves $7.98M. Not 10.5. You went off his total Salary cap number, which is wrong.
