Pats Rebuild Intermittent View of Progress

Could've fleeced a team coming off of DPOY who Bill knew he wasn't going to pay. This might be Bill's' most negligent use of assets. And he's having a really good camp. However, we need to see how he does when the regular season starts.

If you told me at the start of 2019 Brady and Gilmore would be gone and we would have a 6th round pick to show for it I would have laughed at you.

Here let me fill in the actual gaps.
2000 went 5-11 with Brady not starting
2008 Lost 5 more games then the year before when brady went down
2016 went 3-1, 1 game was with the Qb passing for 100 yards because the texans turned it over 4 times in their own side of the field.
2020 with a team that went 12-4 went 7-9 with the loss of Brady
2021 went 10-7 and made the playoffs because of an extra game added onto the season got blown out the worst in Bills coaching history on the pats in the first playoff game.

In total without Brady record is 36-32 zero playoff wins
With Brady 219-64 34 playoff wins 6 superbowls 10 conference title games

I guess if we lower the bar enough that is pretty good.

As a 51 year old, do you have anything better to do?

Also, if you were to tell me that they would trade Gilmore and not pay JC Jackson after the season he had....

Before i begin, yes it's still early and we have no idea how this team will look by mid to the end of the year but...

1. Being younger, or faster does not mean being better.

2. as someone put it. Our best corner last year in J.C. Jackson and he really isn't like an elite corner is gone and was getting tortured on the regular when facing Stefon Diggs. Crap we even had our issues against Waddle when we played Miami and he was just a rookie at the time, what do you think its going to be like this year now that they added Tyreek Hill into the mix?

3. Our Linebackers besides Judon(who kind of fell off last year late in the season) are now made of up unproven NFL rookies who haven't even done anything noteworthy yet in preseason (yes we know its preseason but no one has shown any flashes of what could be yet...) And a couple outcast from other teams...how is that better than your proven vets last season..( yes although slow, and did need to be replaced they were still proven NFL linebackers)

4. both lines offense and defense have been struggling ontop of the fact we traded away Shaq Mason and we have a couple unhappy Olinemen now.

Not to go rehash details that we all know to this point. But reports and notes read the defense has only looked good so far against our own offense that's it.

Oh and our ultimately best corner we had was Gilmore who never got back into a patriots uniform.
When has BB ever fielded a below top 15 defense?

Where was that defense down the stretch last season?

Where was that defense against Buffalo the last 2 games against?

Where was it against the colts?

And...when was the last time you seen a BB team collapse late in the season like they did?

2012 they got romped in the playoffs against Baltimore. It happens sometimes.

Yes, considering the circumstances and considering the results he has put up over 20+ years, picking out the low points still looks pretty damn good. Please find me someone who has done better. And remember if they had a good QB you have to pretend they had nothing to do with the results.
It’s a shame bozos like you have to take the most successful run in the history of the sport and try to knock down those responsible for it to make you feel better about your own pathetic life.

Think about this: you are wasting your life on a message board trying to convince strangers your think they greatest catch in the history of the game, who delivered 6 titles to the team you root for, is a fraud. What a sad waste of a life.

To be fair the 2021 Patriots were absolutely a legit playoff team. They would have made the playoffs under the old system as the 6 seed and the extra game hurt the Patriots not helped.

But Bill's defense still deserves all the criticism it gets for that playoff game and not forcing the Bills to punt in 9+ quarters and counting.

Dude, I get you are a loser who sees every one of your failures as a series of excuses. Just don’t bring it here. Go be a Jags fan where you can revel in failure and be happy.
If I said anything remotely this ridiculous about another member I'd get banned from the thread at least. You apparently, because you're a Belichick worshiper, can say whatever.

Explain something to me. Why, after being a Patriot fan through the most successful run in the history of the sport do you feel the need to labor so hard to tear done the coach who ran it?
I'll probably get bounced from the thread anyway because I'm going to truthfully answer your question. The coach who "ran it" also ran another franchise into the gutter. The coach who ran it squandered at least a few seasons with the greatest player in the history of the league because he doesn't want to pay premium players at premium dollars, his draft results have been among the worst in the league, he couldn't coach his way out of a paper bag in 2015, and he flushed the 2017 season down the toilet with one monumentally ignorant coaching decision. The coach who ran it has also run the last two underwhelming seasons and finds himself with a team that will probably be headed in the wrong direction this season. And finally the coach who ran it also ran the individual most responsible for the most successful run in the history of the sport out of town. And that other individual has merely continued his own most successful run in the history of the sport.

You asked. That's my honest reply.

All the rest is just blather. You say it, you don’t listen to what anyone says and then you repeat it.
What is your objective here?
Everyone repeats their opinion, unless they change it, which is a rare occurrence here. I've "listened" to everything you said. I've replied directly to your comments. My objective here is to hear the opinions of others, discuss the Patriots and the NFL, and present my point of view. It's an open forum, right? I'm a member just like you. You don't hear me making derogatory comments about you, whoever you are, to me you're just some guy on the forum with an opinion. I respect what you have to say even though I don't agree with much of it.

Oh and the “extended preseason” comments were first said in 2014. You remember 2014 right? That was when they won the SB, the start of going to 4 and winning 3 of them in 5 years.
Said by who? And who actually believed it? They only lost 4 games all season in 2014. Last year they lost 4 of their last 5 games.

2014 through 2016 the team was 17-5 in December and January (and that's including the coaching debacles of weeks 16 & 17 in 2015).
2019 through 2021 the team was 6-11 in December and January.

My point is you're comparing entirely different eras... and the extended preseason nonsense only sounds good if you finish strong. They've been finishing weak for three seasons running, so it's a real problem that needs to be corrected or you won't see a playoff victory anytime soon.

When has BB ever fielded a below top 15 defense?

that was ONE playoff game, isolated event(s). This was a collapse over 4 to 5 games in a row, down the stretch, late in the season where generally your football team's identity is already established.

Posters are blaming injuries for their collapse, so I'll add 2019 and 2015 as major collapses. It wasn't a 4-5 game stretch, but both teams just needed one damn win against division rivals not making the playoffs to lock up the #1 seed and they couldn't do it.

You have exposed who you are and what your agenda is. Your opinion is tainted and meaningless.

2015 ugh. Yeah that was a collapse. That includes the Miami game with that really weird game plan to feature Steven Jackson and run the ball all the time in the first half even with Tom Brady at QB. Its like BB treated it as a meaningless preseason game and couldn't care less about getting the top seed. Didn't end well. At least with the wind game last year we know that game plan was done on purpose, not sure what the deal was that day.

Bottom line is the team last year especially on defense was not as good as we assumed it was. The 3rd and 25 play vs Dallas should have told us that.

Most teams like that end the season like we did.

Names posters frequently include: Judon, Jonathon Jones and Dugger.

Judon played in those last games...

J.Jones was lost way back in week 6. And Duggar was a rookie not really making that much of an impact.

The defense was not anything special last year once they started played healthier good offensive teams. This year is still a great unknown. And nothing is not quite sticking out yet.

That's really weak, bro.
It is what it is, you are not objective, you have an agenda. It’s clear as day and you just admitted it.
