In sum, it is peanuts. Don't let the weekly raise fool you.
Your boss:
1) Enjoy the raise, because after a few more weeks, we are going to stop paying you altogether until next summer.
2) Oh, and by the way, the odds on you being with us next autumn are very slim.
3) In fact, the odds of you being in this profession in two years are slim as well.
4) Oh, and by the way, the odds of you leaving with a life long injury or two are pretty high, and you probably won't be around long enough to get any health care coverage for it from us.
5) Maybe you are thinking you should have gotten a real college degree now, instead of the football one you got at that football factory school you went to?
Sorry man, no matter how much we idealize it, the reality for the players who don't get significant contracts is pretty grim.
I'd gladly take a 6 figure a year, for a couple of years, on a practice squad of a team that includes Brady, Gronk, Revis, Wilfork etc, and with a chance to be coached up by BB.
Not to mention if the Pats win a SB, they get a ring as well. I don't see the negative in any of this..
