Pats extend Ja'Whaun Bentley, two years, $18.75 Million

Bentley and Tavai don’t inspire fear whatsoever among AFC East offenses. Old school downhill thumpers though physically limited.

But the Patriots really like them and a D lineman like Godchaux. Probably more than they should.

But our front 7 still looks susceptible to the power run game. Like 2002 before we got Ted Washington.

That’s how I’d attack them if I had the OL. Then play action them.

We don’t have that NT other than Carl Davis. Not going to get it done I fear.

It's no secret flying from sideline to sideline and twitchy in space movement is not Bentley's game.

In a perfect world Mapu becomes Bob Sanders and if that happens we will win the AFC.

Great move. Bentley is underrated. Not flashy, certainly no Hightower or Mayo of days gone by, but solid and improving annually. Smart player who can wear the green dot now that McCourty is retired.

Very intriguing that they ink extensions that also create cap space this year on back-to-back days.... They could conceivably be floating close to $20M in cap space for 2023 right now.

My autographed Bentley helmets value just keeps going up.

Bentley is a jag, Parker is a jag, Schuster is a jag, Gesicki is a jag...wake me when bill the gm signs some top end talent

Bill has a lot of money to play with this and next year.

The signings well ... the jury is still out ... I like them.

Bentley is a very solid downhill, run-stuffing LB. He's also smart and knows how to run the D on the field. Very much in that Hightower/Mayo mold. This is a good signing IMO for a core player on D.

...sorta sounds more like three years $18.75M, no?
It's a two year extension on top of this year, which could total $18.75M, right?

it is good to see mainly really mature reactions to this. Bentley's been a criticism magnet long enough that I'm surprised he got a fair shake.

Not the greatest LB in the league but happy to have him, need tough players like him in the middle of the defense.

Probably the weakest ILB1 during the Belichick Pats era, but there are bigger issues elsewhere on the roster to get too hung up on it.
