Pats D just did something the "No Fly Zone" hasn't done & "Legion of Boom" hasn't done in 3 years

"Worst defense in the league."

"Pats will be one and done with this atrocious defense that they're fielding."

Belichick making some people look like complete idiots once again.

Last 5 games Pats are allowing 13.5ppg.

Over their last 5 JAX is allowing 12ppg

Well, five of their net seven games are against divisional opponents, so that narrative is virtually guaranteed.
I was really talking about the past opponents (the ones they already held below 18 points). But a good point by you as well.

Also, I meant national narrative -- can't have that D be real without a bonafide household name leading the D.

Holding 5 NFL Offenses to under 17 points over 5 games......and without 2 of their biggest run stoppers on the field in Denver ?

As long as Butler doesn't have to cover Sanders in the playoffs and Brown gets back healthy......watch out...

This Offense looking better every week....with a healthy Hogan back shortly it will match any opposing defenses nicely.......BTW whats the word on Mitchell?

Yup. Also, there will definitely be some selective revising of season history ... "Yeah, but, the Pats played Team X when they had a couple key players injured", etc.

During the last there weeks Ryan, Rivers, Ostweiler passed for an average of 222 yards and a total of 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions.

Pats defense certainly has been pretty good the last 5 games. It is fair to point out they have caught some breaks in that streak. Of course any team that has a streak like that needs both good play and to catch some breaks.

Pats now have the 14th ranked D in the NFL in PPG. Considering where they were that is a dramatic turn around. Finishing with a top 10 ranked D with 7 games left to play is a very real possibility.

After the start they had even fans who believed this D would get turned around likely would have have predicted that with so much ground to make up.

Narrative will have to change to (lack of) quality of opponents if that happens.
They do have some really bad offenses coming up but the way I look at is if they are a good defense they will hold them to their scoring average or less.

I'm throwing the early season games out the window as I think they'd allow more to NO but less to CAR, KC and HOU (even if Watson was healthy)

CAR followed up from us and scored 27 vs DET and Newton threw for 300+ again but since then hes sucked.

KC is still scoring but their running game has cooled off big time.

HOU is a disaster.

Since CAR fiasco, on average the Pats are holding teams 6.2 points less than their scoring average. So playing with averages....

OAK scores 22, Pats allow 16
MIA scores 14.5 (2), Pats allow 9 (2)=18
BUF scores 20 (2), Pats allow 14 (2)= 28
NYJ scores 20, Pats allow 14
Pitt scores 21, Pats allow 15

Total Points Allowed For Year= 286 or 17.9ppg allowed.

I think that sounds about right for this defense. Unspectacular but good enough

17.9 would put them at #4 the way things stand now. That sounds spectacular to me.
