I noticed that the Pats/Colts game isn't a primetime Sunday or Monday night game this year. Instead, it's at 4:!5. I don't really mind, as I think the past 5 years, the Pats have been overexcited for the game and instead of playing the game, just outsmarted themselves and only have one win to show for it. But I'm wondering why the league would rather have Eagles and Giants as a Sunday night game instead of the biggest rivalry in the sport?

I've alway been curious about that too. I'm of the thinking that Manning vs. Brady should be primetime until the day they retire.

I still think of the 2007 Pats-Colts game, the furthest into a season two undefeated teams had ever played each other. I had the "privilege" of watching the regional game instead, Texans vs. Raiders. Yeah..........

Re: Pats/Colts game in November.

Every few years they keep it during the day to make sure CBS doesn't get screwed every year because one of the best games on the AFC schedule is always on primetime.

Re: Pats/Colts game in November.

I just checked the schedule that day and it's the only CBS game at 4, so nobody will have to worry getting the shaft. That's all that matters to me I could care less what time it is. If anything, I'm glad I don't have to wait all stinking day for it.

lol @ you thinking that pats/colts is the biggest rivalry in the sport.

Re: Pats/Colts game in November.

Actually, I believe that the late game (4:15) on Sundays, if it is the only late one being shown, is watched by more people than the Sunday night game that interferes with prime time TV programming.

Yes but 4:00 games are competing with back to back episodes of Spongebob Squarepants. So you've gotta pick your poison I guess

Re: Pats/Colts game in November.

Actually, in recent years, with the Brady/Manning hype, it certainly has become one of the biggest, if not THE biggest.

Name another that you think is a bigger rivalry instead of laughing at this one. I didnt see you name one, or did I blink and miss it?

Ravens/Steelers, Greenbay/Vikings, Dallas/Giants...just to play devil's advocate. But i do think that the Pats/Colts rivalry has to be considered top three.

Re: Pats/Colts game in November.

The NFL does not pick which games are shown on Sunday or Monday nights, their business partners - the four television networks that televise games - do so collectively. CBS and FOX get to keep a certain number of games; they also get to protect a limited number of games from being moved later in the season when the flex scheduling begins, moving better matchups to Sunday nights.

If I was an executive at CBS, I'd want to get my fair share of the Brady vs Manning ratings sweep for my network.

Re: Pats/Colts game in November.

you picked up on that?

I try to leave clues at the scene of the crime...sometimes Sherlocks pick up on it...other times, the Watsons step right over it...

What does that even mean?

Re: Pats/Colts game in November.

Pats/Jets is probably as big a rivalry

.

Noooooo dude... they meant competitive rivalry, not some angry bums red with envy against the Pats.

Re: Pats/Colts game in November.

Also, NY and Philly fans are amongst the best there are, in all sports, and that does include the Boston area, too. I hate to say nice things about NY fans, but they are passionate, and knowledgeable.
Eh.

Query on aisle 4!

This is the fans of the Philadelphia Eagles you are talking about. Right?

Ummmm....I think the phrase you're looking for is "green with envy".

However, red with rage; that might work!

It's a conspiracy, man! The one year they're in Foxboro they don't want them playing too late because it'll be even colder! Damn Polian and his agenda!

PS. Sarcasm

It's nice that I don't have to stay up until 1am just fr kick off

Lats few times Pats Colts have been on have been bad nights for me

Watched the 2006 Championship on a online stream... stream dies at half time. Time it comes back, Harrison has just scored on a 2 pointer. Sigh.

Then last game, Moss scored his 2nd TD, theres a phone call in my house. My gran is sick and needs taking to hospital. This is at like 3 in the morning here too. Time we get back, it's 4th and 2. Sigh.
