Jackson on why he chose Seattle over NE:

What Seattle said was, 'We want you to be a part of this team. We want you to contribute. We know what you can do, and we're excited about it.' They wanted to put me on a flight that night," Jackson told me Sunday while flying to Seattle with his wife and youngest daughter.

"New England wanted to wait a couple days. I wanted to go where I was wanted the most, and that was Seattle."

New England can be a risky place for veterans, and especially running backs, to sign. Bill Belichick churns his roster and hasn't committed to a backfield depth chart for years.

Jackson conceivably could have rushed for 100 yards in Week Four and gotten cut in Week Six. The Patriots signed future Hall of Fame receiver Reggie Wayne three weeks ago and cut him already.

"What played in the back of my mind is how much New England turns over its roster," Jackson said. "That has worked well for them, and you can't blame them. But, at the same time, you want to be comfortable where you are.

---
I don't know if I'd go that far. Sure there can be a bit of churn but the players who got the system and who pan out will stay and the guys who won't, don't. It's not like we just use guys on a whim and then throw them away when done...

I guess this makes enough sense, although football players usually take a more cautious position of "I think I'll be a really great fit with this team" and don't say anything that might exclude them from a job later (like if Seattle decides to part ways in week 6).

He also won't have to do much with Bill's fans or his Bill's legacy (however much that is) by going to Seattle.

I would've like to have seen him in Red White and Blue. He was a great player to watch twice a year.

Lynch also a former Bills...

In other words, the Pats expect more from their players and cut those that don't put in the required work. It's no secret that there are a lot cushier teams to play for than the Pats.

Lame article. We didn't cut Wayne, he asked to be released.

There was also a $$$$ problem with signing Fred I believe.

Fred was a Pats killer over the years. Good to see him out of the division anyway.

Though he sounds like he has a bit of a chip on his shoulder about the Bills so it would have been nice to have him here...

Got two problems with this:
1) Not sure where they get that Belichick hasn't committed to a backfield depth chart. Prior to Ridley and Vereen leaving, the only changes came due to injury.. Otherwise it was Ridley, Vereen, Bolden.

2) Reggie Wayne asked for his release and the Patriots granted it to him.
