Which All Decade Team Wins 60s, 70s, 80s, or 90s....I am going to leave the 00 out because duh?

Re: Pats All Decade Team: Who Wins?

The 70s teams had alot of talent. Its a tough call.

I haven't seen a thread for teh 60s...is there one or an oversight...as none was mentioned...

Most '90's teams would be the All-Decade teams of the 60's and 70's.
During the 1990's, training and, um, let's say nutrition, were dramatically more advanced than in the past.

In terms of talent, the All-Decade teams of the 70's might be better than the '90's; in terms of size, speed, and strength, they would be overpowered.

70s, 80s and 90s were just voted on and that is why there are articles on it the team of the 60's was voted on years ago so I guess that is why...I didn't want to leave them out of this poll though.

Every year/decade players are bigger, faster and stronger than players from previous times, so the latest decade team would win. Well, early 90s team wouldn't beat anybody, but in general, the newer teams would win.

70's team by far

The mid 70's team was unbelievably good - I mean they were stacked at every position, could run over anybody, had a young Grogan, All world tight End - Russ Francis, Stingley, Vataha, Hannah,Gray blocking for Sam Bam Cunningham & Andy Johnson, Stingley was still catching balls and was paired with Randy Vataha. Defensively, Julius Adams in his prime, Sugar Bear Ray Hamilton, Tony McGee on the line, awesome LB's Steve Nelson & Steve Zabel, Steve King and Sam Hunt with DB's Mike Haynes & Tim Fox. Kickers John Smith & Mike Patrick were pretty damn good too.

If Sullivan had left Fairbanks alone, that team would have overcome the Oakland ridiculous call and gone on to win a few superbowls.

i think we need to look at the teams in the era they played in, not comparing them to future when advances are made....that is like saying the Spartans sucked as fighters because they wouldn't be able to defeat one guy in 2009 with a machine gun.

I agree. From what I have read and heard, the 70s team would be the best.

Excellent recap. Despite size increases in the 90s, the 70s Pats had more talent.

pity that i have never seen ,only read, about the '70 Patriots

seems that 1976-1978 team was one of the best we ever had

Pat, look at it this way though: because you never saw them, it makes you younger than those of us that did. Actually, the Patriots of the 70s frustrated us like the Red Sox did before 2004, except it took until 2001/2002 for the Patriots to make it right.

So very, very true, after living through the mid decade 70's team, then seeing the Bears Berry our Pats in 85/86, then seeing freaking run back kicks in '96 - I thought it would never happen for us, sort of like the Bills.....then along came Kraft / BB / Brady and it made it all worth the wait.

How very very sweet that Snow Bowl game really was as that seems to be the turning point game of the franchise, they finally won one the way they had always seemed to lose them.........and they are not done winning 'em, by any means.
