Since he missed all of last year with injury, he is basically a rookie, so I'd agree.

But he did experience a lot better college competition (SEC) for a ,longer period of time, so his skllls seem much more certain.

I think the Zappe train has been zapped. The quickness with which they went for this Corral guy may indicate he was of interest or on their board last year and got away. I like the SEC angle someone brought up as well regarding BOB.

This is a BOB move 100-percent. If/when Corral gets up to speed with the offense chances are Zappe's days here in any capacity are numbered.

The injury history is a big one. Especially to the lower body for a mobile qb. Billy O can develop qb’s. Interested to see what comes of this. Who knows, he could be off the team next week.

I think it also suggests that Bill really doesn’t like the vets out there. He’d rather groom their own mostly untested backup than go with someone set in their ways.

No qb released on waivers is going to be perfect without flaws and risk. I think the upside with him is so much higher than Zappe. The guy has wheels and can escape the pocket.

Agreed. Maybe has more natural talent than Mac, so did Stidham. How did that work out?

According to RAS and Draftscout, he's 6'1.5" while Zap is 6'0.4" so a whole 1.1" taller - Woooo! BB is fighting for that extra inch.

The Panthers traded with us in 2022 and gave us two picks, one in 2022 and one in 2023, to move up and select Corral. We used the Panthers 2022 pick to select Zappe, and the 2023 pick to select Mapu. We now have all three players from the trade. Crazy.

Is Matt Corral's history an issue, or part of the reason that Carolina thought he could pass waivers? If he is on path toward addressing the issues that have held him back, it would be the perfect scenario for BB's last chapter. Even if he doesn't become a starting NFL QB, I hope he does well. Everyone loves a feel good story.
