Surprising! Hopefully this is a good sign for Strong/Harris, but this early on it's more likely a sign that he's not right physically. Maybe he comes back later for TC, but for now it's too bad.
Wow! He got a nice contract as well. I believe he'll probably be back once he's fully healthy.. great sign for the young guns in the back field though!

Think it was an injury settlement kind of thing.....the guy was too good to suck with the Jets last year.....

Ezekiel Elliott is still available.

Leonard Fournette? Seems like a classic BB veteran.
I liked the Robinson pick up.. but I'm perfectly happy with the current RB group.. the few times I've see strong and harris they've been impressive.. we drafted these guys gotta let them get some run..

I'm actually mildly shocked at this cut. He must not have been picking things up the way they'd hoped.
I'll reach out to Miguel on Twitter in regards to what happens for the Comp picks since Robinson was cut so early.

$150k for a week in short pants.
Chess master on fire
Left $3,850,000 on the table.

Magnus Carlsen he ain’t.

That may be why I wouldn’t want to go after a Dalvin Cook. But I still would like another veteran in the room. We know nothing about Strong or K Harris yet. And I have zero desire to watch Ty Montgomery take any snaps.

Robinson obviously wasn't the same player he was as a rookie, that's a shame because he was really talented.

There may be a fine selection of free agent RB's (Calvin, Barkley, Ezekiel, Fournette, Hunt) out there for reasonable short term deals once these guys realize nobody is paying RB's anymore.

It's a tad ironic and sad that the most physically taxing positions in football no longer gets paid or has become replaceable... and largely because they get hurt.

The Patriots could have their pick if they want one, they could probably afford Hopkins and a RB.

Otherwise this might be the season JJ Taylor makes the squad. Rhamondre Stevenson, Pierre Strong, Kevin Harris, Ty Montgomery, JJ Taylor... is 5 RB's enough for camp and preseason?

Imagine Dalvin Cook AND Deandre Hopkins ? Instant offense.
Hopkins is NOT an instant offense player, what he IS a very reliable receiver who can move the chains and create separation underneath. He is not going to blow by ANYONE Cooks, on the other hand is a threat to go all the way EVERY time he touches the ball, both as a ball carrier AND a receiver.

Adding either would make our offense better, adding both would make it MUCH better. I figured Cooks had about a 1% chance of signing here, with the Robinson release I'd up it now to 15%.

BTW- this might be one of those patriot "releases" done with a wink and nod that he'll be back, but right now we need a roster spot.

I might be pulling this out of my ass, but I feel like I read somewhere recently that Dalvin Cook had the second worst stats of all RB's with 200+ rushing attempts last year.

And after a quick perusal of Vikings online fandom it seems that, although they love him, he fell off last year quite significantly. I honestly can't say I watched enough Vikings football to formulate my own opinion.

Yeah, was thinking this when the news of Elliot holding out for more $$ came through. Elliot wants to get paid for what he's done, not what he's likely to do at this point. They need a different contract structure for RB's, to allow them to get paid as they produce rather than after they've proven it, because often it is too late by then.

Yeah.. the RB position in itself is becoming devalued becuase of the beating these guys take. By the time they are 26,27 they are done!

That's why I want to enjoy rham while he's young and on his rookie deal, because by the time his deals up he'll like won't see a 2nd contract here. Just the reality of the NFL and how business is done. So strong and harris have talent we drafted them.. have to let drafted guys get run in any sport in order to maxim thier talents and contribute to the team!

Ty Montgomery just hasn't been able to stay healthy in his career.

D-Hop can blow by people in effective ways don't sleep on his Elite Route Running he sets up CB's. D-Hop is better than Cooks who can't go over the middle with that small frame.

Hop can run every route tree, make every type of catch.. I'd urge posters to go look at the end of the game against the bills he out jumped the entire bills secondary on a hail Mary!! Hop can catch a 60 yard bomb and score.. he isn't s one trick pony.. yes Cooks is a smaller, shifty WR who can run. Boy do I hope we can sign him it would really, really allow us to be a dangerous offense

Hopkins is very similar to that guy below a retired Texan one of the best RR at the WR position. Andre Johnson was my favorite player in Madden.

I think Ken was talking about Dalvin Cook, and called him Cooks. That is why Ken said "both as a ball carrier and a receiver".

a good WR can get deep. Even the 4.6 type like Welker would occasionally get deep on those "in and up" routes that I am always wanting to see more of. Welker would do his usual crossing pattern about 6-10 yds deep, then break up into the seam. I love that route, but we don't see it much

Same goes for Hopkins I guess, He will get a few chances to go deep, but PF, just look at the record and see where a vast majority of his catches have been made. He has averaged around 12 yds/catch the last 4 or 5 years. Those are good numbers, but he didn't get them by "being a deep threat". It was more running great routes in the mid-range and be good at yards after the catch.

Make no mistake, I hope we get him, but let's not make him into someone he's not
