Barring injuries or a trade, it's going to be tough for him. Right now, I have him 7th on the depth chart behind Davante, Tyquan, Agholar, Myers, Bourne and Nixon. We also have Lil Jordan right there with Wilkerson as well. I don't see us keeping any more than 5, possibly 6 and if that's the case I think Nixon gets the nod. A really intriguing position going forward.
1 - Parker
2 - Agholor
3 - Bourne
4 - Meyers
5 - Thornton
6 - Wilkerson
7 - Nixon
8 - Humphrey
9 - Wild card - Montgomery who can also play WR

Way too many WRs. They could trade 1, cut 2 and still have a very good starting WR group.

thornton
meyers
bourne
...just based on camp reports for me although agholor could be in spot 1 as well

Parker and a speedster in thornton/agholor as outside WR gives the offense some nice matchups, or versatile weapons for mac attack

Agree Ross, it's not the worst problem to have, but there are going to be some tough cuts coming up.

The player that has been rising has been Thornton, multiple reports stating he's open every play and uncoverable. We are going to have to find a way to get him on the field. A nice problem to have after talking about Harry the past few seasons. lol

Montgomery is a lock and it seems like they are playing him in the old James White role...making plays today.

It's funny how Bourne has slid down, but you're right, based on reports, he has been the quietest during camp. I do expect him to be a big part of what we do during the season. Reiss said something about a month ago that stuck with me regarding Bourne in that he's a much better "game" player than a practice player, his energy always comes out.

Who does he think he is? Jimmy G????

We've come a LONG way from hearing we have NO WR's to help Mac this off season to be in a position to have EIGHT guys we'd like to keep and probably 5 openings.

Personally I think we keep 6 with one of them labelled as a ST's guy. Remember injuries happen and they happen often.

On a side note. I expected Kendrick Bourne to have a BIG year, and so far, he's been very quiet in camp. Still a lot of time for him to start to make a bit of noise, but I have to say I'm starting to get just a BIT worried.

Going by reports/TC production even Nixon might be ahead of Bourne esp. with his ST prowess (playing all units incl returning).
Those 5 might be the ones they keep on 53 in the end if all stays healthy/no trades so Bourne better get his act together..

They can roster Montgomery as the 5th RB, he does both. Humphrey will get cut.

7 is still too many, expect a trade of everyone is healthy, maybe two trades.

Based on sheer numbers (40yd/100m), Kalon Barnes is one of the fastest straight line DBs in NFL history (assuming he makes it on a roster, that is). He's technically a lot faster than Thornton (well... except for that 10yd split again - despite the 4.23 40yd, Barnes's 10yd split is just .02s faster than Jakobi). Great to see TT beat his former teammate.

One needs to read the camp reports on Randy Moss in 2007

Excellent point, you need 3 tackles at a minimum, you can't let Wynn go if you aren't comfortable/confident in Herron and that's assuming you're good with Cajuste.
There was a point where the Patriots used at least 5 OTs for like 7 straight years early on in BB's Tenure. It's only been recently that they've been able to get away with having 3-4 total.

Obviously have no idea why Bourne has been so quiet this offseason, but I still have to think that sitting out preseason game 1 means his spot is secure.

Don't get the Mills hate...he's been nothing but good for us since he arrived:

That's people like @captain stone who get all twisted up when their binkie's aren't signed. They can't admit to how good Pats signings are that they've slandered endlessly. That would mean admitting they were wrong. And they can't ever do that.

5 hundredths of a second faster in the 40 is not a "lot" faster - wins a race by maybe 18 inches. But Barnes is a legitimate track star - came very close to a flat 10 seconds in the 100m as a High School Senior.
Barnes by all accounts doesn't yet have much over-and-above his sheer speed. Seems to be more like a PS candidate for now.

You're right - probably around 20" for that .05s diff at 23mph. Thinking more the 100m. In HS, Thornton ran a 10.5 and Barnes ran 10.22 (10.04 3.2m/s wind which corrects to 10.1 at a legal 2.0m/s).

Barnes had terrrrrible shuttle/3cone times. That's why I specifically mentioned straight line.

The rise of Marcus Jones and Myles Bryant makes me wonder what's going to happen to Mitchell and Butler.
I have little worry about Mitchell. Solid technician, perfect backup to Mills. I'm still not sold on Bryant - his special teams work probably has him make it, but we all saw what elevation to CB equaled last year. Butler...cant make the club from the tub especially as a bubble guy anyway.
