Some news over the weekend and cleaning out the notebook from Reiss: We'll need to make two moves to get down to tomorrows 80 player limit.

Reiss's take on Russey helps validate what I was watching during the Panthers game. After the ThanksDad screwup earlier, my thoughts were: "who's next? UDFA... oh man... lefty Center? woah weird. He seems like he's doing a great job in there... but what do I know?" Here's that great play Reiss was talking about:

This team really has three UDFA making pushes to make the team: Ray, Russey, and Schooler. I don't know how many will actually make it in the end, but none of those three would surprise me if they did.

I don't think anyone really knows what's going on. It feels like Bourne is in the doghouse a bit, but it's unclear if it's due to attitude, performance, or a bit of both. It just gets muddied further because the offense as a whole has had a rocky start, especially on the OL. So judging skill position players based on play from a patchwork front gets jumbled. Then throw in the fights with Carolina (which Bourne was a centerpiece of), and there's a lot to unpack.

The joint practices in LV will be illuminating in regards to Bourne. If he's taken his licks and comes back with renewed commitment and intensity, it'll be a great sign that they pushed the right buttons. If he continues to be an afterthought, there may be something deeper going on.
Considering his contract is very affordable, and he's obviously really talented, I'm sure that New England would much rather have Bourne on the team as the league's best #4 WR than get a 3rd-round pick from Dallas or someone, IF he responds to their messaging. If things stay on their current track, he'll probably be gone before week 1.

That's impressive for a Center not many make that play in real time.

Agree. Russey has played a lot of snaps in camp and preseason and hasn't made any noticeable mistakes as far as I know.

It’s interesting that at least one player made the trip but has to be removed from the roster by tomorrow. More than one if Stueber isn’t going to reserve NFI or if they add a new player (like the WR they worked out).

Mitchell too. Gets a lot of ST work and looked promising on the edge against Carolina. It would be an upset if this happened, but he might end up being a better use of a roster spot than Perkins.

Center David Andrews was a Undrafted FA too.

Russey was a guy I asked @BaconGrundleCandy about in the lead up to the draft. I kinda saw him in the Andrews mold. It will be interesting to see what happens with him.

I will say that I'm surprised we've heard next to nothing on Hines, Desjarlais or Sherman.

Is that Kenny Robinson again? I can’t quite tell for sure, but it looks like 27.

What if they can pick up a Ted Karras level OL for him?

To my uneducated eye that looks like a pretty good pocket in the tweet above showing the Russey play (Sherman there as well)

We know how some guys are late bloomers it's seems like WR Lil'Jordan Humphrey is ready to make that jump like K Bourne did last year. Lil'Jordan Humphrey is still very young only 24 with his specials Teams play he might be choice over the others. We have an idea of how BB fills out his roster a guy like Humphrey might be a keeper.

Not that I expect anything noteworthy today, but is the press allowed in practice today? Will we see any reports or will it be an attendance check and then silence?

I thought Sherman would be a factor at this point as well…at least in the conversation as a backup G. Desjarlais seemed to be a good pickup from Canada but haven’t heard much either.

I believe the press will be allowed in although I believe it will be a lighter and quicker practice with two joint ones coming up.
