Reiss's take on Russey helps validate what I was watching during the Panthers game. After the ThanksDad screwup earlier, my thoughts were: "who's next? UDFA... oh man... lefty Center? woah weird. He seems like he's doing a great job in there... but what do I know?" Here's that great play Reiss was talking about:

I thought Sherman would be a factor at this point as well…at least in the conversation as a backup G. Desjarlais seemed to be a good pickup from Canada but haven’t heard much either.

Good overall execution by the OL: perfect snap & kick-out to knock the DE(!) on his ass; Dejarlais takes the DT and totally stone-walls him; Sherman has his head on a swivel looking for work; and Hambone & the LG (can't tell who it is) handle the attempted stunt perfectly...

Of course, a slightly-delayed A-gap blitz by one of the LBs would've had Zappy off his spot before Sokol would've had a chance to peel-off...

Hines did an excellent job on this play: hands loose in front, aggressive push, feet moving, good balance, kept the rusher in front of him. Pretty much textbook.
