I like having Bolden here. He is the kind of back that can do everything well and fill in with every spot. He can catch some, run for speed, run for power, run with a little quickness. Very much a jack of all trades master of none kind of guy that you like to have in reserve. Add in his STs value and leadership and he is a good guy to round out pretty much any team's 53.
Agreed - I said in the Sony thread that I was pretty sure Bolden would be a cutdown casualty due to the glut of backs, but with the trade happening, Bolden should be pretty secure now. Good depth guy and it makes special teams better.

Starter job is right there for the taking..

Sweep the leg, Mac!!

Bolden gives you very little on offense anymore. The guy had 8 rushes and 3 catches in 2018 and 15 rushes and 9 catches in 2019. He sat out last year. He is 31 now. He is pretty much a pure special teamer at this point.

He was always mostly a special teamer, he's had a longer career than most backs his age because of it. He's really talented, they just have a specific role for him... glue guy.

The question is this. At this point, injuries aside, it is becoming clear Mac Jones is going to likely be a franchise guy. What do you do if he is Kirk Cousins or Stafford instead of that next level up? Do you have the guts to trade him or do we hold on to him in QB pergatory and stay competitive once his rookie contract is up? We have all pointing out the folly of teams in the past that pay top money for 2nd tier QBs. But would you really be okay walking away from Jones if he turns out to be one of those guys and trying our luck again?

I would personally, but I know I'm in the minority on that. I'm hoping against hope the Patriots can beat the statistical odds and get another HOF level QB, (not Brady level obviously, but even a Favre or Kelly level would be wonderful). It doesn't happen often. A question more for down the road, but one I'm already starting to ponder, as it isn't about if he will be good, but how good?

Pump the brakes, Bob. He has not taken a snap yet in games that count. I like the fact that he comes from a big time school, played under the brightest lights and has a winning resume. Love it that he's having a day today, but let's see how he does when it counts.
