Yup. The guy who is "too light" to play LB and "too slow" to play S.
I guess he gets to show us, one way or the other.

Not Mapu, Mafi.

Mafi is a monster and has been with the 1st team. What are the odds we are going to sign Onwenu to a $15+M contract? What is less than zero?
He has been playing with the 1st team a little bit. Curious how he is actually doing there….I don’t think I’ve heard anything. And what is the dilio with Sow? He seemed to show something in OTA’s but really not much since. I hope the team didn’t mess him up mentally moving him back and forth between G and T. Some offensive linemen don’t respond well to position changes even from one side of the line to the other.

Sow is changing positions (guard to tackle), Mafi is not changing positions. Whenever a player changes positions, the Pats bring them on more slowly. Yes, moving from guard to tackle can be tough, so the Pats are taking is slowly to avoid messing Sow up. Mafi was with the 1st unit at OTAs as well - it is likely due to the fact that Mafi will replace Onwenu in 2024.

Hines and Russey are on the 2nd team while Mafi is on the 1st team. I doubt we are re-signing Onwenu.

Bourne with one reception so far in 5 camp days. Talk amongst yourselves.

PatsFans loves Bourne. Thornton is the problem.
Bizarrely, BB went out of his way to talk up Bourne's yty improvement in his presser. If I had to guess, I would say that BB's focus on Bourne's alleged improvement was part of his DHop decision...

Just a note. In the spring of 2001 the well respected ProFootbal Weekly's editor (I forget his name) did an article that listed the the 5 teams LEAST likely to make it to a superbowl over the next 5 years. Coming off a 5-11 year and a VERY "lackluster" roster, the #1 team on that 5 team list. the team LEAST likely to get to a superbowl were your NE Patriots.

Of course over the next 4 years they managed to win 3 of them. So I'll reserve the right to take the "lack luster roster" conversation with a grain of salt, if you don't mind. Of all the fan bases in the league THIS one should know this lesson better than the rest. But it seems like we have forgotten the lessons of the not too distant past.

It was Joel Buschbaum of “Pro Football Weekly”. He was their draft guru.

There’s a theory out there that Buschbaum’s friend Bill Belichick put him up to doing that story to take the heat off Belichick.

Who knows. Buschbaum died young. One of the few NFL types to attend his funeral was Bill Belichick.

Or hyping him up for a trade…

Does that actually ever work?

Ryland. Better long-term upside and cheaper. But if Folk is significantly better, then I’m not so sure.
Ryland is bound to be better on kick offs unless we are going to kick short all the time.
