Patriots Trade For Rams WR Greg Salas

Sounds like a good trade so far.

Meanwhile, Gaffney and Branch can't be happy right now, and I wonder if their loyalty and "Patriots only" mantra will start to fade fast.

Gaffney was cut because of his injury and all signs point to once he gets better he will be back with the team.

If they were to put him on the PUP list he couldn't come back until after Week 6 and if they put him on IR he would have either been out until after Week 8 or lost for the entire season

It's pretty evident especially since teams are interested in him and he said he would prefer to go to NE.

Don't be surprised the Monday or Tuesday after Week 1 or 2 Gaffney is resigned.

He's already familiar with McDaniels' offense, so works for me.

He also wasn't even eligible for the PUP.

PUP wasn't an option for Gaffney, since he'd practiced in the preseason

Same here. Now they need another receiver for the outside. I wonder if they'll risk it and wait.

It looks like the Rams used him on punt returns, so that might be a reason why they traded for him.

EDIT: To those worried about how deep our WR cuts were

I'm as free-thinking a football fan as the next guy..

But some of you need to get a little more in the In Bill We Trust frame of mind.. at least in the wait in see department.

This looks like a good pickup!

There is a deeper wisdom in your post. Sometimes we as fans just want a guy here based on his talent, becouse we don't analyze the team as a whole but more like a sum of it's parts.

But if BB, McD and TB think that Larry Fitzgerald or Calvin Johnson doesn't work for our offense, they will axe him, and they will most likely make a good move by doing so. We will moan and whine here, but BB's resume speaks for itself and 95% of the times when we disagree with him he is the one who is correct.

Loyalty? Patriots only? Branch was a holdout. He failed in Seattle and was welcomed back. He has no gripe. I don't ever recall Welker talking Patriots only. It's a business. He understands that. Probably wasn't happy before this happened. That said, if he never caught a pass after this season, Wes Welker is set for life financially.

Edelperson's backup? or replacement...

loooool

edelman's movin' up in the world if he's got his own back up now

Greg Salas, wide receiver from Hawaii ........

Low risk, potential high reward!

So were going to use 2 WR roster spots on Edelman and Salas...?

It actually makes sense to have Salas over Branch assuming he knows/can pickup the offense and give us roughly what Branch gave us at WR last year. He provides depth and competition on ST's as well. But that may also be assuming too much.
