Patriots Trade for Michael Bennett

For what they’re getting, and what they’re giving up, it’s a great deal. Still a solid player who can produce. My ONLY concern is age, will he come into New England, as a 33 yo soon to be 34 yo, and be willing to work harder than he ever has in his career. Because as we know, so many guys say how serious and how hard the Patriots work compared to other teams. Most also say winning is fun.

We’ve had guys come in at this age, Reggie Wayne and Eric Decker come to mind, who’ve come in and said, ****, this way too hard, I rather retire. And conduct wise, those guys were perfect soldiers behavior wise in their careers. Bennett, not always. Those are my only 2 concerns. Obviously you cut him if he can’t perform or behave, and the loss isn’t so big a deal.

How old was Harrison? I thought he was like 36. The way Bennett played last year looked like he had plenty of energy and passion left but I get your point.

Still effective. Not sure if anyone pointed this out or not but he racks up offside penalties. I also hate his attitude. But he did wreck a super bowl and was in the process of wrecking another but then the goat took over.

Anyone wondering if Bennett still has something left in the tank....holy cow look at what he actually did on the field this past season. He was one of the best D-lineman in the entire league. Obviously he's got plenty left in the tank.

Reggie Wayne made an odd comment that claimed it was too hard here, but Eric Decker clearly no longer had the ability to compete.

There was no evidence Decker would have had a problem with putting in the work.

If we keep Flowers and no drop off from Bennett

What happens if Bennett becomes disgruntled not getting a raise?

Can't say I'm not a little nervous about this Trade.

Actually he was on ESPN today saying that he just didnt have his heart on it anymore.

Not sure if anyone mentioned this, but supposedly he and Schiano have a history. Not in a good way.

Is that the reason he couldn't catch a pass?

He didn't have the heart to.

Not sure that he is worth all that much in terms of trade capital at this stage in his career but we’ll see when the details come out. What’s the deal with those pee-wee shoulder pads he likes to wear?

He had two last year, 5 total penalties.

Could have been part of the reason. He said said flat out he wasn't really into it.

That way back in 2012 I think, wouldn't worry about that now.

Bill wanted to trade for him last year, but the Giggle beat him to it. He obviously sees something in him that he likes and any history that Bennett has had with Schiano was not going to change that.

I'm not buying it. Guy is a solid competitor for years and then embarrasses himself, dropping passes every time he stepped on the field at an alarming rate. And it happened the year before too, yet he still had the heart to come back for more?

I've read dropped passes are a sign that you've lost a step.

Me thinks Decker is still having a hard time accepting the loss of his skills.

Well he could be in denial but just telling you what he was saying
