This move virtually assures us of not drafting the clown tight end from Miami that tons of people were mocking to is at #32.
Now we can focus on resigning branch, and drafting two de/olb's,two defensive backs and an ilb with our first five picks.
Considering the interest in Cooks, might there be a pattern here?
I hope he makes an actual article out of this because twitter inherently limits the context you can give on a list like that.
Yes, but still interesting.
At very little expense in draft stock, Belichick has replaced Bennett with Allen. Allen is likely a lesser receiver, as good a blocker or better, younger, and cheaper to own. Plus we'll be spared Bennett's mouthy narcissism going forward.
You make a series of unspectacular but solid, team-building moves like this over the years, and before you know it, you're the league's best franchise. The baubles at the top of the draft are too expensive and more risky than thrillseeking fans would like to think. Dull stuff like this wins the day.
BTW, according to that article by Reiss IND actually did end up getting NE's own 4th-rounder (#137 after you count post-3rd round comp picks) since SEA's pick (as the higher one) will be stolen by Roger.
It's officially stolen during the 4th round of the draft when the team before NE is put on the clock and then NE skipped and the team after NE is put on the clock.I wonder what the wording on that is. Not that it matters much but it would interesting to know when exactly Roger steals the pick.

But really, it's already stolen since NE can't do anything at all with the pick right now unless they acquire a higher 4th round pick.
