Yes sir.. Murphy is a good CB and I like him as well... I'm learning that it's all about getting the right "guys ".. reminiscent to how BB built the culture when he took over. Good day for FA already better than last year. But Davis has those long ass arms that make it difficult on WRs and QBs..
Team beats talent.

I don't know if he was necessary. We just signed Austin - who is probably going to be better - at least faster and much younger.
I don't like Vrabel returning to BB's style of getting over-paid stars on their backside of career.

Carlton Davis since he's been in the NFL:

2018: 13 games 492 yards, 63 completion %, 12.6 yards per completion, 6 TD's, O INT's, 116 QB rating.
2019: 14 games 648 yards, 49 completion %, 11.2 yards per completion, 6 TD's, I NT, 80 QB rating
2020: 14 games, 855 yards, 62 completion %, 13.2 yards per completion, 5 TD's, 4 INT's, 87.6 rating
2021: 10 games, 422 yards, 57 completion %, 10.6 yards per completion, 3 TD's, 1 INT, 83.2 rating
2022: 13 games, 622 yards, 55 completion %, 12 yards per completion, 3 TD's, 1 INT, 82.8 rating
2023: 12 games, 721 yards, 61.4 completion %, 14.4 yards per completion, 4 TD's 2 INT's, 96 rating

Tampa traded him to Detroit.

His only year in Detroit:

2024: 13 games, 567 yards, 55 completion %, 13.5 yards per completion, 2 TD's, 2 INT's, 77 QB rating.

Summary: He misses at least 3-6 games per year, gives up lots of yards, yards per completion, TD's, but doesn't make up for it. He's a boom bust player. He will be talked about regularly in game day threads.

short term guys... making it easier to fill the big holes in the draft...

Dugger needs to be a SS and more in the Chung role.

Anything in front of him hes fine. Anyone he needs to cover past 15 yards he's toast.
Love him as a third "LB" taking the RBs on the wheel and a TE once in awhile especially as our other LBs are all more run guys than coverage guys. Is Dugger a great safety coverage guy? No, but as a LB cover guy - I think that's a very good role for him.

LOVED watching Davis in college and I projected him here as a press man corner. Better late than never. This makes my day! Best starting duo in the league.

Will give this a C+ so far. Landed a few really good players, but hard to not land one of Williams/Godwin here. Gotta see if we can swing at someone here.
Tough grading! Glad you weren't my teacher in school! So you think what the additions on defense don't mean a whole lot, until we get a #1 WR? That's possible, but wow.

That is a prevailing approach for a lot of posters isn't it? Apparently, the path to success in the NFL has nothing to do with a team, but instead two positions - QB and WR.

Obviously, I think there is a lot of truth to the QB part. Touches the ball on every play (either yours or theirs) except special teams and direct snap plays. Makes the decisions on where the ball goes within the context of those same plays. The majority of the perennial winners - both regular season and playoffs are consistently the top QBs. Evidence abounds.

Once you move to WRs though - are those same things also true?

I will agree that a team absolutely needs at least one offensive center of gravity player in addition to the QB - WR or TE, and significantly less than those even a RB, but at least one has to be someone the defense has to account for and scheme against every week. But does that have to be a WR? It absolutely can be, but doesn't have to be.

The other aspect - this team COULD get to the playoffs next year because sometimes things happen. Allen gets hurt and the Bills implode for a season as an example. Someone has to represent the AFC East and maybe the defense carries this team, but the odds are HUGELY against them even sniffing that rarified air next year much less anything more than that. If the right WR1 isn't there this year - it's not the end of the world nor automatically delegates the Pats to another 4 win campaign.

He’s a big physical CB, between Gonzo and Davis they have two of the biggest, more talented outside tandems in the league.

Davis is a little long in the tooth but with Marcus Jones in the slot or covering the small fast types that’s a good group.

I’d like to see them bring Jon Jones back on a one year deal to play free safety and add to CB room in the draft.

I'd like that too, if they can't get someone to exclusively play the position.

Continuity is good in the backfield, having a crafty leader who can manage the coverages will be important. Plus he can play some CB when they play multiple smaller WR’s.

Now draft Hunter to play corner

What im hearing about him is that he played incredibly only last year for Detriot

One year wonder or renaissance?

Not a coincidence he's salary's up when Gonzo is in line for an extension
