DRAFT Patriots select WR Tyquan Thornton at 50.

Only guys with 32 + arms were Burks, D Williams, Ezukanma, Pierce, Woods, London. I believe him and Williams (34/35?) might of had the longest but could be wrong.

I feel like this should be common sense, or at least was circulating enough in league channels that Bill felt the need to trade up to get him. If there were no serious rumblings from multiple teams that Thornton was going higher than the consensus, then I doubt they would have bothered to leap frog anyone for him.

I was off by like 4 prospects in terms of + 32 arms. Or maybe I'm missing something I haven't read all of the thread?

It's almost as though the guy who's been coaching in the NFL for 40 years might actually know what he's doing.
It's almost as though others have taken over draft decisions the past two years
(RK gives a wink)

Were 38 years of NFL experience insufficient when "the guy" grabbed No Separation Harry and SloJuan at the top of his 2019 draft?
----------------------
To change the subject slightly....
You'd think "the guy who's been coaching in the NFL for 40 years" could force the Bills to punt just once

That being said...
I do want to get it on record that I am more optimistic in year 41
I believe BB and sons will force Buffalo to punt at least once in each game this coming season

I love BB probably more than most if not all, but he did select Harry. I saw he could not separate in college, but I deferred to BB that he knows what he is doing. In Harry's case, he did not know what he was selecting. Dude went to Brady's backyard one time and that was it with him and Brady. Do you know who will be the best WR evaluator post retirement? Brady. He threw to Moss one time and he knew what he was.

And yet, somehow Harry was a 'consensus' 1st rounder.

ONE game a season in Miami...and it's the FIRST game this season which precludes any rookie WR draftee by the Patriots from performing in, as a rule the past TWENTY years.
Yes but if he dies in it then he winds up missing a ton more games

McDaniels had influence in this. There was some weird workout in Foxborough that made them decide Harry was their guy.

Regarding Brady, it doesn't take a very smart man to realize Tampa Bay had good WR's in Evans and Godwin. This is why many projected him to go there. Not sure what you mean by Moss as he was a proven WR and the Pats got him in a very low risk trade.

Who is Tyquan taking snaps away from to get on the field?

2021 WR snap percentages...

84% Meyers
73% Agholor
52% Bourne
43% Harry

I suppose Harry is a goner, which frees up some opportunities. However, you also have to account for Parker who was at 81% with Miami. He arguably is WR1 heading into the season and will take Harry's snaps plus some of Agholor's. You would think Bourne's snap % is going up, maybe significantly. If Tyquan is even going to see the field much then there will have to be injuries or Agholor has to go (this also assuming Harry goes).

Nah, just thought it'd be cool to post this for top drafted WRs and reply to your post was the excuse.

Can we get a link to the McDaniels/Harry thing? Is there one? I know it's been brought up but what's in record.

My guess is every snap Meyers took outside. Bourne will go up as well but could even off if we play him in more of a strict slot role.

This is a good question though and one i kind of asked. We didnt draft him to be just another WR at 50. Not that high and with his skill. We're expecting WR1 in the near future (2023 >) but I'm guessing we hope he naturally separates himself from the rest. That has to be the hope.

He's got like 2 elite traits. Or borderline elite traits. Scary speed and ability to beat press. Not elite but very good. So if you're betting on someone you want him to have those two.

What level of secondary opposition did he face in the Big 12? I've seen this raised as a concern and wanted to hear your take.

Brady should've known who Moss was before that first pass lol.

Hindsight is a funny thing, lots of people were saying he was washed up. The reason I said it that way is that after one practice I remember PFW crew talking about how Brady was smiling. When we did not see Moss in the preseason they kept saying Brady knew what he had in Moss and we should all watch out and it was lights on from the get go!

I am just saying that Brady knows quite quickly which receivers are elite, good and flat out bums. He has been right, we have drafted some bums for Brady and even with that he won 3 Super Bowls. The first 3 Super bowls were more about the defense than was Brady.

I've posted the article before during the 2020 when the media was dragging BB though the mud. I don't know how to search for that specific post on here.
