Patriots release Albert Haynesworth

This is insane. The one unit that has some semblance of competence is losing a contributor, especially in the RZ. How can anyone view that as positive? The only reason anyone can make a case for this horrible move is because of AH's rep. Considering the state of the D we need all hands on deck if we want to make any kind of run in Jan. He would've been that much more useful come playoff time when the weather puts more pressure on teams to set up the running game.

I hope this isn't because of one disagreement with Pepper during an emotional loss. That would be unfortunate and very short sighted.

Put a sock in it you slack jawed fan boy. Anderson and Ellis are JAGS in everyone's world but yours. Carter is 31 and has played above his head. He's been great, but for how long? Is he, as they say, the future?

Whether they are JAGS or not, they were still brought in to help this defense. Sorry that you fail to comprehend that. Probably because you know it blows your whole rant out of the water.

Haynesworth and Ochocinco were the alleged "big splashes", the ones people were talking about. Both have been, and I'll say it again, EPIC FAILURES and huge wastes of money.

Only you would claim that a guy who was a low risk/high reward potential is an Epic Failure. BTW, 1.5 Million is not a huge waste of money. Again, it's part of the low risk/high reward potential. You clearly have issues understanding that.

Again, if you think Mr. Kraft enjoys pissing money down a toilet you also probably believe in Santa and the Easter bunny.

But if it makes you feel better I'll let this speak for you and the other fanboys current take on the team:

Who said that Kraft enjoys pissing money down a toilet? You clearly don't understand that there are business deals that don't work out. It's part of business. No one likes it, but it's part of life.. You can do a few things.. You can learn from it and do better or you can rant and rave like a lunatic, throwing a temper tantrum. You clearly prefer the latter.

BTW, your little picture is stupid and doesn't reflect anyone's views. But that is typical of a bandwagon fan who can't be bothered to follow the team through thick and thin. You have to exaggerate and blow things out of proportion so you can feel better about yourself and about rooting for a different team until this one gets back to doing well.

Solid and swift article from Greg Bedard on Haynesworth's release:

After Giants game, Haynesworth had to go - Extra Points - Boston.com

Haynesworth needed to go, and sources said some Patriots players were grumbling about that, but coach Bill Belichick was already moving in that direction.

If the above quote is truly the case, then that's a silver lining in all of this. The last thing we need is key players pissed off at Belichick like they were in '03 and the Jets crushing us as a result.

Try $1.5 million. That was Fat Albert's 2011 salary. There were also some escalators, which he obviously didn't meet.

Didnt meet it because he can't get on an escalator...it would collapse

As always, there likely is a lot to this story that we'll never know. I'm willing to bet it was a move BB didn't want to make but had to.

I think BB had to and wanted to make it because good Albert didnt always show up.

The Pats are always full of surprises, so this really isn't a surprise at all.

No this pretty much sums it up

After Giants game, Haynesworth had to go - Extra Points - Boston.com

Why was Albert Haynesworth released today by the Patriots?

He disrespected the uniform and his teammates in the loss to the Giants.

That’s the bottom line.

There are a lot of things that can be tolerated on a football field, even getting regularly beat because of a talent disadvantage.

But not failing to give a full effort. And that’s what Haynesworth did against the Giants.

This sounds like the Albert Haynsworth we've all heard about over the years.

Yeah, I posted before reading that. It explains a lot. A sad waste of ability.

This guy is an arse, a complete arse. Let's cut his arse and get someone in here who can draft, pick FAs and actually talk about things when asked a question.

Watch out folks, we might see Big Vince out on his arse next.

Can't wait to see the look on his face after he waddles up the podium this Sunday night after the Jets kick his pompous ass all over the field.

Key red zone contributor?

Well

In Bill I trust

It's rare that either Love or Haynewsorth do anything, but there has to be a reason why Love is getting 46 snaps and Haynesworth is only getting 9 and it's a reason why Haynesworth is gone. He's lazy, has no heart and he's not the player you must think he is.

Haynesworth is gone because of reasons that haven't been announced. It honestly doesn't matter to me why he's gone.

As for the number of snaps, Love got them by default since the Pats didn't have anyone else to put in there with Ellis out and neither Warren or Brace in full game shape yet.

But, you keep thinking that Love is better than Haynesworth.

Yes, from that quote it sounds like Al didn't have any locker room support anyway.

Oh well, we didn't give up much for him anyway, it was worth a shot. They are probably dying with laughter over at Extremeskins, but they really shouldn't be. At least we didn't give him 100 million.

Haynsworth hasn't been doing much. I am amused at how critical folks think his 9 or 10 reps are. The reality is that he really hasn't worked out, and we now have Deaderick back. We had 17 front seven players, about two too many.

Sigh. When one player represents your entire effort to make the defense better in what was an abbreviated off-season and that player is a bust it's A MASSIVE, INDISPUTABLE FAILURE. What about that can't you understand?

Yeah, one player is all the Patriots did to try to improve their defense. They didn't draft another corner with a high pick, they didn't release players who had struggled in our system (Butler, Meriweather).

On top of that they didn't make significant changes to coverage schemes, to the gap assignments on the line or to attempt to utilize a more standard 4-3 personnel deployment.

No, all they did was trade for Albert Haynesworth a few weeks before the season started and then Belichick ticked 'Defense' off of his To-Do list.

Since when did Meriweather struggle in our system? He looked like Ronnie Lott out there compared to Sergio Brown.

Belichick has ******* lost it. Even if we were to go back to the 3-4, havent we lost the two good defensive ends opposite of Wilfork?

I think what's most disappointing about this is that we were all hoping Haynesworth could be another Belichick success story. Had it worked out, we could have had a great D lineman and stolen him for peanuts.

Too bad.

Cut Chad, beat the Jets, and I will shout it out:
