Patriots Receiving Corps against Jets

Well the good thing is the Jets don't have Revis anymore.

Bad news is Jets are still ranked 12th overall against the pass so they are still above average there.

The good news is that the Pats pass defense has climbed to 13th overall against the pass!
AND Gronk is finally cleared to play so we can do some damage!

Also the Jets QB is... gonna be either Geno Smith or David Garrard??
Yeah... Geno Smith has a QB rating of 74.7, more passing INTs than passing TDs (10 vs 7), and Garrard hasn't played a game sinc 2010.

Let's eat em up Defense!!

They are ranked 12th against the pass because of yards, but in most other passing stats the Jets' defense is below average or average. Here are other stats - some I already stated (Pats ranking for comparison):

  • Opposing passer rating - 22nd (Pats are 4th)
  • Passing TDs allowed - 17th (tied with 5 other teams while the Pats are tied with 3 other teams for 5th)
  • Interceptions - 32nd with one (Pats are 11th)
  • Opposing QB completion percentage - 15th (Pats are 4th)
Third down conversion percentage (which isn't an exclusive passing stat) - 15th (Pats are 12th)

Where they excel at is sacks where they are tied for 5th (Pats are 19th) and YPA at 9th (Pats are 8th). Those go hand in hand since sacks count as passing attempts. It also speaks to how good their front is and how bad their secondary is. Without a strong pass rush, the Jets would be a bottom tier defense.

BTW, if we are just going to look at passing yards, the Pats have already faced two defenses that are better than the Pats. The Saints are 11th and the Bengals are 9th.
