He'll be very good, but he's no Josh Simmons.
Sam telling us all how it will be, or not of course. I wish I had such insight.

This could be another situation like Ladd Mcconkey where its obvious Pats picked the wrong player. Will Campbell will not be in the same top tier as Simmons.

You reckon Sam?

Where is Simmons ranked and what are his current stats?

Not much coming out of practice from the media today. I'm sure things have tightened up a bit with things now closed to the public and so far, that's been the case.

who gives a chit.
These aren't really judgments I make in August. I would guess by mid to late October, we'll have a feel for where he's at. But even then, unless he's an absolute trainwreck, I'd have a tough time making any rash decisions on him.

Right!

Let’s sign a WR one week before the season starts.

We don’t have enough WR candidates.
If Diggs, Chism, Williams, Bourne and Polk aren’t playing, we need bodies in case the guys who do play get hurt. And I wouldn’t be surprised if Boutte and Douglas aren’t playing too just because it’s the last preseason game.

I don't get the hate for Ben Brown. With all the underwhelming play by almost everyone on the OL, Brown is not one of them. He isn't a top-level C or G - but he is a solid (and experienced w/ Maye) IOL. He moves people, tough, I didn't see any pressures on pass-blocking. With all the talk about not starting a season with rookie LT & LG - he might make more sense than Strange IF they really want to start Bradbury at C for veteran value.
Campbell - Brown - Bradbury - Onwenu - Moses wouldn't be horrible to start wk 1.
If Bradbury gets hurt or is bad - then either bring in Wilson at C, or at LG, and shift Brown back to C.
Moses is more of a problem - hurt all camp, so old... It looks like Bryant will be playing at RT most of the season.
Yeah I think there’s value in giving Wilson more time since he’s very inexperienced, and Brown has looked at least OK. He’s not exceptional, certainly not in the run game, but his pass protection seems sufficient and he understands his assignment, which helps Campbell next to him. I have to guess the plan is to replace Bradbury with Wilson at some point in the year.

Regarding Moses, I don’t think he’s been hurt at all this camp, they just didn’t use him much because of age. There’s not really anything he needs to learn, so may as well give the reps to the younger guys. Fortunately, Bryant has looked solid, so if he has to sub in at some point I don’t think there will be big problems. They may also play Bryant periodically in the season at the end of big wins or big losses just to keep Moses fresh.

Last year when Brown played center, he had no push in the run game and was a turn-style in pass pro. He has size, and occasionally would flatten someone, but was on the whole really bad.

Thanks for posting this.

Last year he got put in an untenable position and played well all things considered. This year? doing better.
