PATRIOTS TRAINING CAMP Patriots Practice Reports - August 11

Wonder what changed for the kickers today. Maybe they did something to the balls to make it difficult for the holders? Can't be as simple as both took suck pills today.

I think for an established team, it is 100% true. For a team like the Patriots with new coach/system, I think you can Get a little more out of how camp is perceived.
Thye are changing offense 100% but also a different style on defense as well.
Last year reports were terrible in camp and played out that way. Hopefully the more positive vibes out of camp will translate this year.
Your right there. I was just eluding to the fact that not every practice is doom or gloom nor is every practice picture perfect like reports will lead us to believe. What I gathered is the team is tough, we'll coached and don't make the same mistakes over and over.. going back the past few off seasons I'd saw the teams headed in the right direction.

Borregales slipped a 20 to the snapper to to hike it low to Romo
First time I've heard about the long snapper all summer.

Is it just me or are there a lot of injuries this camp?
Players seem to have been kept out of practice for precautions when dealing with something.. Davis, Gonzo, Hollins, james, Diggs... Larsen and dial are the only guys on IR.. hoping it doesn't pile up..

Great in practice disappear in games. Looks like Tarzan plays like Jane.
That’s not a fair statement on Baker. He only played 51 snaps all year before 38 in a game we tried to lose.
He couldn’t get snaps theoretically because he didn’t know the offense.

I wouldn’t think judging some on 50 snaps over 4 months when he doesn’t know the offense is fair.

Judge him for being too dumb, but gotta get him in the forms to determine if practice doesn’t translates to the field

I think that while "being drafted" isn't a tiebreaker, contract status has to play a part. If Romo wins the job, he's a free agent after this year. If Borregales wins the job, he's got at least 4 years left on his deal for very cheap money. Granted, Romo would be an RFA so they kind of still own his rights for next year, for all intents and purposes, and he'd still be cheap, but ultimately it is still 2 years vs 4 years.

They're both pretty young (Romo 25, Borregales 22) so I don't think age really factors in.
that is a great point Ross... despite what Coach Springer said, that is exactly why the draft status matters...

Yeah, when both guys have been good and then today they both suck, there's gotta be a reason. I'm guessing they were doing some sort of situational work. Purposeful bad snaps or holds, short clocks to rush the kick, wet ball - something.

I dint blame you just saying it’s failing to earn opportunity not really failing with the opportunity.

What was your assessment of him when he was drafted last year?

I think being drafted matters to the point where you chose this guy as the best K in the draft and have long range expectations.
Romo has to be clearly better to say we will keep the guy who showed up and had a good camp over the guy we evaluated and felt worthy of being our K long term.

Borregales would have to show them they were wrong to get cut. He hasn’t done so to my knowledge

To be honest I thought he was Brian Thomas Jr. lite; that guy below. But Teams miss on WR's all the a time; the position have a Huge Bust percentage. We have another in Slow Polk unfortunately.
