My 2 cents.

1. I believe that Kraft was correct in taking the blame for putting Mayo in such a bad situation where he was doomed to failure in his first year. And yes, I was among those who wanted to give him a chance to see if he could learn from his mistakes. The problem I had with the knee-jerk " it doesn't look good today, so let's fire everyone so we can stay angry for another season.", is that these are the same people who would have fired BOTH Bellichik and Parcells after their first seasons at Cleveland and NY. And hey, add the BB's first season here in 2000.

They seem to forget that both players and coaches have the opportunity to change and grow. We see it ALL the time. Please don't constantly instantly judge. That's all I'm saying

2. But the deed was done, and Vrabel is the guy. He was clearly the best fit of the candidates out there and we got him. Both the Raiders and the Jets would have both loved to get him. You have to give Kraft credit for closing that deal. People forget that Mike didn't leave here with the best of feelings after being traded, so coming back wasn't an automatic thing that most people thought. He could have inherited better rosters on both the Jets and Raiders, but just not at QB.

3. I think the OC job is a critical hire especially in the development of Maye. The LAST thing Maye needs at this point is to start all over in a new offensive system. Well, that's not correct exactly. The thing that needs to be kept from last year's offense is the LANGUAGE/SEMANTICS. For continuity's sake, I would hope that whomever they hire as OC will be willing to translate HIS offensive vision into the same language that Maye has already learned. If he has to learn and get comfortable with an entirely new language, we can expect a step back.

4. With that said, JMD would be my first choice. The guy is a PROVEN offensive coordinator, who guided Mac to a good year in 21, and had him overachieving. He helped Brady take the next step from a game manager to a superstar. And I would disagree that AV system that he was taught while he is some monolithic out of date offensive system whose tine is past. Did you watch the first 20 years of its existence. That was the same system which had the ability to go from the ground and pound of the early 2000's to the wide-open Randy Moss years and then to the 2 TE juggernaut that gave us the first half of the 2010's. I like it because it allows the team to create based on the talent available.

That being said, I won't be upset if they go elsewhere. All I want is that whoever takes the job is willing to translate his vision into the language Maye already knows and seemingly thrived in. Also whoever becomes (or stays) the OL coach is also a critical hire.

5. As for the DC, The Pats were 22nd in the league in points allowed but if they had allowed just one point less pergame, they would have been 15th. Cousins didn't do a bad job given the injuries and roster he was given. That being said if he gets fired then I hope Vrabl gets a guy who he knows and is dynamic. I wouldn't mind seeing Roman come back as a LB coach.

While I have warmed up to him more than before, I will be the first to say: I can't wait to eat crow should all the hype be deserved and he does well. I want that more than to affirm my gut.
Ditto.

I’m curious how many fans would have wanted Vrabel if he won his SB rings somewhere else.

I mean that dude is arguing that because Elliot Wolf nailed the Drake maye pick that he's a lock for this next top pick.

I don't think it's hard to take the third quarterback in a three quarterback draft.

If Mike Vrabel doesn't push wolf out then I don't know what we're doing here.
Not to mention what he's done in FA. Chuks, KJ, Reagor, Nick
Leverett, Armon
Watts and Takitaki lol

What if the Pats sign Tee Higgins and say Davante Adams if the Jets release him like many expect them to do? Then do they need to draft a WR #1? Is Tet that good that you cannot pass them up for potentially Micah Parson 2.0?

There are options in free agency to fix the Pats' passing game. They have to be favorites for Higgins at this point.
I read a couple of hours ago that the commanders are going to go hard after higgins

Denver's Senior personnel executive
Ok thanks! So Vrabel has his own personnel guy in Cowden. This is excellent. As the report stated Vrabel I expected to have heavy input in personnel decisions. Feels reminiscent of when BB took over bringing in pioli...

Look at the coaching similarities with Vrabel and Bill.

Both took thier teams to the playoffs first time around.

When it ended at their stops. Both came to NE with some type of personnel control..

Both were in their 40s..

He was very very successful until 2022 when he had a ridiculous amount of injuries including his QB and LT and AJ Brown traded away. They then fired the GM and replaced him with a guy who sucked and who Vrabel could see sucked. He then did a **** job with the roster in 2023. That guy scapegoats Vrabel and Vrabel is fired. Well how did that turn out? They spend a ton of money in 2024 and yet only achieve half the wins Vrabel had the year prior and end up with the #1 pick. Then that GM is fired.

It was a tough situation. Kinda funny how it isn’t exactly the same but reminds me somewhat of bb’s run in Cleveland. They did pretty solid jobs in getting what they could out of those teams but were part of a sinking ship at the end. Vrabel may or may not thrive here but very deserving of the chance.

Both told the Jets to f off

I’m done with this ********. Half this forum didn’t want him, and you would have **** all over him had Maye failed. You excuse Belichick for years of failed drafts, but you give Wolf six months to turn the bag of **** he left them into a good team.
Where are you getting this? There would have been a rebellion if he didn't pick Maye. It was a no brainer.

And Belichick has nothing to do with Wolf's failed draft (Belichick's excuse was they were winning and competing for Super Bowls). When Belichick picked high, he knocked it out of the park (Seymour, Light, Warren, Wilson, Samuel, Koppen).

Upstater- Bill Belichick should only get credit, no blame for anything.

-Eliot Wolf should only get blame, no credit for anything.
One wins. The other can't analyze a good player to save his life.

Both told the Jets to f off
And the music stopped and one chair got removed after the best HC candidate got hired.

So now we have the Rats, Bears, Raiders, Jags, and Saints all pursuing Ben Johnson.

So does he take a job?

There will be hard court press now to hire Johnson.
