AV literally won us two Super Bowls, making some other really high pressure kicks along the way. His resume stacks up against anyone not named Brady.
AV absolutely belongs in but he's still just a kicker.

I do think Mankins is deserving... But he's not going to get in head to head unless he comes up against a very weak class... looking at the upcoming queue of players, its gonna be awhile for what will then be Old Man Logan...
This is shame but of course there are several more deserving than him. Hopefully he gets his time eventually.

His thumbprint was all over the team for a decade plus. As for Martin, he will never reach the final ballot for the NE HoF.
Neither belongs they aren't Patriots.

Edelman had the game-winning TD in SB49, 'The Catch' in 51, and was the ****ing MVP of SB53.

I dunno.
More of a reminder. I am not knocking Edelman. He is a Patriot HoF player. There is no doubt about that.

When Adam Vinatieri plied his trade in New England, some of the posters here weren't even watching football.

Fair, I forget that sometimes.

To those people, yes, Vinatieri absolutely deserves to be a Patriots HoFer. If he weren't up against Edelman, and the nit-picky reasons I would take Edelman over Vinatieri, Adam would get 100% of the vote. (Well, like 93%, there's a weird Mankins cult out there)

either way, a great Patriot player gets in.

As for Adam V, I may have a personal bias... I was at the snow bowl, I was at Super Bowl 36, I was at Super Bowl 38... So, great memories to have... hard to beat experiences vs watching it on TV... experiences win out for me

This statement makes no sense.
Ones a Giant and ones a Jete.

Sort of why Randy isn't in our Hall either. I'd put Randy in before Curtis or Parcells.

Maybe we should consider Revis too then?

Well actually just to screw with Jets fans maybe we should.

I was there for 36 and 38 too but I was also there for the Catch too so I'm just the luckiest SOB ever.

Moving onto other criteria I still have to fall back on one being a kicker and one being everything (I mean his STs contributions alone almost put him on par with AV).

Honestly I say the same thing when it comes to AV in Canton. It's not going to seem right when they put him in the NFL Hall while still blacklisting Rodney. But AV belongs their too.

Edelman was a Patriot for his entire career and a player who was dynamic as a Receiver, Punt Returner and even an Emergency Cornerback. Adam's two snow bowl kicks will always be remembered as the most clutch field goals in Patriot History. Adam belongs in the Patriot Hall of Fame too.

But the catch that Edelman made with a Falcon Defender all over him in Super Bowl 51 to keep our miraculous comeback alive, (see my Avatar ) was totally unbelievable.

They both belong in the Patriot Hall of Fame but Edelman gets my vote this time around. BTW, I think most people here would feel that both the "Snow Bowl Game" and 28-3 Game were two of the most exciting games in Patriots History.

Greatest catch ever. IMHO.

All three should get in at some point.

My vote for who should go first among those three goes to Julian Edelman. Played his entire career with the Pats and was as clutch as clutch can be.

They can't both be 1st ballot guys, 2025 is the 1st year of eligibility for either of them. Vinatieri hasn't waited any longer than Edelman.

I forget that Vinatieri retired around the same time as Edelman. It seems like Adam retired like 20 years ago because I try to block the Colts years out of my mind.

I think it will be Adam then.
I think it's his best shot. Edelman, based on a 60/40 split here, has to be the odds on favorite...

i left the rklag, qpt off the poll just for that reason... to get a really clear picture of the breakdown

It's got to be Adam for the snow kick, Rams kick and Panthers kick. Had he missed the kicks against the Raiders and Rams, they probably would've lost.

between the two, there really is no wrong answer. I am not going to talk Edelman down just to prop AV up, that's for certain.

two kicks vs the raiders in the divisional round, but who's counting lol

you can't discount guys because the played for other teams... Randy Moss would make it in, would probably be a first ballot type guy...

a visual if you will... if you discount guys who played/coached for other teams, this is what your HoF would look like...

Edelman gets in at some point regardless. Might as well be now.

If I read the OP right, Mankins was eligible before Vinatieri? How does that work? Mankins was a great player but he doesn't have the same magic moments, or even rings, like the other two.
