Updated the NFL tracker... Moore to Eagles... Minter to Chargers as DC

That was really fast. Did they even do 3 interviews..?
three that I know of - Kliff Kingsbury, Jerrod Johnson & Kellen Moore

I meant Atlanta - was wondering who their 2 minority candidates were. And even of that group for Philly, only 1 is a minority. Something seems not quite right here
Okay, i get what you mean now... based on my understanding of the Rooney Rule, its 2 interviews of minority candidates for HC, 1 for coordinators & qb coaches... so they meet the requirements as I understand them

I am not 100% on top of whats happening with all the teams looking for coaches... the NFL tracker quickly became very complex with the amount of candidates being thrown around... I don't think I have missed any announced interviews, but much like the Brian Fleury interview here, additional interviews might not have been reported...

True, some could be missed or simply not reported. However this was changed a year or two ago to require 2 minority candidates for coordinator positions too. So it just makes me raise an eyebrow.

Thanks. I did not know that. I tried to look up the Rooney Rule on the NFL Operations page, but of course, the link they have to the current iteration of the Rooney Rule is broken.

Someone posted an nyjfl letter from like 2021 that covered all the new (at that time) changes &details. I think maybe it was even in this thread

IiRC it did say 2 minority for all 3 Coord positions; but I don’t remember how many.if any had to be in person.
The zoom interviews happen fast and don’t seem to get publicized so much. I guarantee they checked the block one way-other

Someone posted an nyjfl letter from like 2021 …..,
so, found A post:

19 Jan: pg 8 (THIS THREAD), but it wasn’t the letter (or excerpt) that I recalled as this seems to be solely about HCs.

There was another post by someone about Assts. ….
Here are the rules for the hiring process during the post season, as I didn't see them:

Edit: It says head coaches, but it seems like most of the points apply for all coaches. If someone has them definitively for all coaches, that'd be swell.

Ok, now I found the B Post:
the one I remembered:

BL: All coordinator hires require 2 minority interviews(; but NEITHER. has to be in person

from @Sciz and buried in the Mayo coach search thread.

Here’s the memo making it two for coordinators. I believe it’s still accurate that the coordinator interviews don’t have to be in person. That speeds up the process quite a bit.

@Gumby @Ross12

found an article that laid out the rules
Of note, all teams must interview at least two external candidates of color for general manager and executive vice president of football operations jobs. The same goes for offensive, defensive and special teams coordinator positions.
{ edit - article doesn't want to link correctly, keeps trying to embed a Media... Its from Bleacher Report, and is titled NFL to Require 2 Minority Interviews for GM, Coordinator Jobs in Rooney Rule Tweaks, by Paul Kasabian, posted 10/27/2021 }

Looks like Ross was right... something fishy in some of these hires, vis a vis the reported interviews...

Like I said previously; if the only requirement is a virtual zoom call ;….

then the boxes can be checked with a Flores-type cya phone call with no intentions of hiring.

and re: “reported interviews”. The Rooney rule says they have to tell the league office not the media. So just cause we haven’t heard, means do-diddley.

You’re right - and I’m sure the NFL will get right on it.

If the Commanders hire Macdonald then it’s down to just the Seahawks for Ben Johnson. If he doesn’t get hired then the Pats could possibly poach Engstrand as OC
