Expandable or expendable? I'm sure they could become fatter.

Why do you want to cut one? Seems to me we might have too many guys on the edge.
Considering my many recent brain farts on players, ill let one letter mistake slide lol

Even if we start playing more 4-3, i doubt Barmore and Milton wont be the main players. Heck they might even go on the edge in some 3-man aligments

Feels like a lot of big bodies for our team. Not hating on any of them, just a numbers look. They also dont really provide ST value at all

Is Munford being brought in only to pick his brain about the Raider's offense?
Munford is being brought in because our backup OL still isn’t good. Also because the coaching staff has a bias towards players they’ve worked with before and liked (like many new coaching staffs do), and Munford was with the Raiders the entire time Josh McDaniels was their head coach. Which admittedly wasn’t that long….but it was longer than Mayo’s HC tenure here.

Munford is huge but dud not have a good preseason

Thayer Munford was a seventh-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft who was serviceable in a reserve role leading up to this preseason. However, his struggles were undeniable over the past few weeks.

According to Pro Football Focus, Munford registered a pass-blocking grade that was under 38 percent. He allowed a sack and seven pressures in three preseason games this season. The Raiders had no choice but to make a move.

I hear ya. Lotta players on the line right now. 4-3, 3-4, 1 gappers, 2 gappers, etc....

Pharms is the only guy that played a decent amount on STs (100+ snaps) so he has some value.

I guess Josh sees something in him or knows how shakey our line is.

Does not seem like these undrafted free agents they are picking up are anything other than JAGs.

None seem to have upside of legitimate quality starter based on scouting reports

It's genius. Provides a confidence boost to our pass rushers as they get numerous wins in practice. Chess not checkers.

I feel like there are now too many DT’s and DE’s that can play DT. I like all these dudes but I prefer to get rid of 2 and get 1 better DT. Saves a spot on the 53 for another position such as OL. Quality over quantity. Fight me.

That is why they are UDFA!
Replacing experienced veteran captain lastt year with undrafteed free agent
Does not seem like a move made to improve the team this year

Seems clear the captain wasn't a system/org fit and redundant the UFA DT is seemingly is more of a need.

If he sticks, I think we're going to like this guy

He's got a signficant amount of game experience and sounds like one of those guys that finally hits their stride as a Patriot - kindof like Vrabel himself!

Expect plenty of situations where they go meaty and put 3 of the what is being called DTs on the line in more of a 3-4 look…also short yardage and goal line spots which is nothing new. It’s not like they’ll just be running Barmore and Williams out at the same time when they are in a 4-3 and not 3-4 like this is playing a game of Madden, or that no rotations are being made. Can expect to see plenty of them both on the field when 3 are on the line.

Look around the league and internally with the way the game is played now if you haven’t. The Eagles had huge injury luck last year with Carter, Williams, Davis, Ojomo, and Booker as DTs. Four played in all 17 games, the other being Carter (16 games). Snap counts percentages of 79, 47, 37, 37, and 16, respectfully. That 16% percent number for Booker looks different as DT5 if anything else happens. Now look at Vrabel with the Titans and top 5 year to year and when injuries do happen.

NFL rosters are always churning. Maybe they test Gregory to see if he can surpass Pharms and they’re comfortable with that route of one or the other. Maybe they just know they’ll be heavy on DTs given Vrabels history, and injury luck can’t be assumed.

All said, the big outlier in some of this is White. If he can stop moping with his exernal locus of control and show he can spell some of the load, maybe a fixed amount of 6 “DTs” that some might assume looks like overkill. Odds are that roster movement or injury happens before that’s even a conversation.

I am so tired of posters and sports reporters telling me that Pharms is amazing. Probably a great guy, but we need better.
Pharms is a terrible football player
