I would like some serious football discussion rather than what everyone is currently engaged in. A few posts above this I went through a few of the positions in FA that Wolfe could have made some upgrades, they were all on the defensive side of the ball. My question for you is who would you have pursued on offense to upgrade the offense? would you have approached the draft differently?

I was considering putting some time into some examples of that, beyond just the no brainer that we had lots of money and lots of holes to fill. Since you posted this, I’ll do it soon.

That is right. We should have spent FA dollars on defense and then we could have concentrated on offense with the 2025 draft (with very few defensive needs). Build as the market provides.

Yes, I love the idea of keeping the Defense top tier and anticipate needs a year early. I am not sure they know their identity yet, so it makes sense to an extent but as a fan it is super aggravating.

Your posts about the off season and your dislike of how the team is moving forward may have started out as “objective with analysis”, but when you continue to incessantly gripe about it…it becomes “whining”. It is what it is…you are free to post as you want just like everyone else.

It’s true…you and I have a difference of opinion on how the team is building for the future.

All of my posts here have always been football related. I’ve never posted anything about other members including you. The posts I’ve made with the word “you”, responding to your posts, have all been in the context of football.

I agree with this. He’s in an unenviable position as the new, first time GM for a bad football team.

IMO, this is the “floor year” where Wolf is going to observe what he has and see what he needs for the future. As you’ve probably seen here; this is a real problem for some on this forum but I think it’s a sound strategy and the correct one.

I expect to see big changes with more FA spending next year, Wolf is looking to build for the future; he’s not going the “instant gratification” route.

Just my two cents…

You literally wrote a post telling me how I should think and post.

I didn’t twist any of your words, you seem to want to back away from them though.

My posts of objective analysis have not changed, you seem to think that the volume changes the message. My message had not changed at all, I simply try very hard to respond to every post made to me, so if the level of response is high, the volume of my posts will be high. And yes they will be repetitive because I don’t post an opinion unless I have thought it through and when people raise objections I already considered in formulating my opinions the response will appear repetitive.

Ironically you are complaining about my posts being “incessant” yet you keep replying to them and eliciting more replies.

There work should be judged from day 1. If there isn’t progress, and you want to take the approach that they are making mistakes and hopefully learning, I don’t think that is acceptable. If they aren’t competent they should be replaced not given more time.

Can’t restock it in 1 offseason when the biggest needs were QB1 (check), WR1 (none of them would come here so gotta draft one), and LT (no one lets the good ones reach FA (also gotta draft one).

My opinion is the ONLY way Mayo gets canned is winless season with lots of dysfunction.

Wolf didn’t get to pick Mayo so I doubt he would get fired.

It’s year one of a rebuild which started 4 years too late.

Poor wording on my part, when I said benefit of the doubt I was meaning that I would give them at least one more year. I don't think that a GM or HC should ever be removed after a year especially after inheriting a roster very depleted on one side of the ball. If the had gone deep into the playoffs and say BB retired and the new regime came in and did not make the playoffs and went sub 500 then I could see them getting moved.

I am grading their work (B-, C+ currently), but am not ready to see the team move on from them especially considering the schedule. Cleaning house at once is giving off Cleveland Browns and Jax Jags vibes and I think that would be a mistake. I’m not sure how you can grade them a B-or C+. You can’t give any grade for the draft yet because they haven’t played.

I don’t think there is any grade you can give how they used 100 mill of cap space that isn’t an F especially since they couldn’t figure out how to use 40% if it and we go into the season with pieces of the team that are incomplete, have time backwards, or just are awful.

If the result of what they have done to date is 2 or 3 wins does that change your grade?

And it’s ludicrous to say the worst offense in football had no players available in free agency that were better.

I disagree that you can't grade the draft yet. I look at it as intent, result. They got an A for intent in the draft, imo, they drafted every position that was needed. In FA they brought in KJ, KB so targeted 2 solid WR, 3 TE's, 2 OL. I think they could have done more at OT, so for me they slightly downgraded. Only slightly because I don't think they were huge upgrades. Personally I would have targeted more on defense, but can understand why they would want to see what the new iteration of offense/defense looks like before spending big money on it.

If they only have 2-3 wins, yes that will change my grade, but not as much if they are competitive in most of the games. If they have massive mental mistakes over and over that is a significant downgrade, but if they have cleaned up the mental errors and found avg/good starters at most positions then is an upgrade.

I do not think its ludicrous to say that there were not better players available in FA. We see it every year how a change in offensive scheme can improve a players output. I don't think it is absurd to think that may happen this year. I went in to this offseason knowing it would not all be turned around, so I am looking for smaller incremental improvements. I feel that your expectations are not reasonable, at least based on what I think your expectations are based on comments you have made. This is a huge stretch on my part, because I don't actually know your expectations

Listen…you have to learn to accept that the team brain trust is moving forward with an approach to team building that YOU don’t like. The team is implementing a long term strategy which hasn’t yielded any results yet because…well…the team hasn’t even played a game with the new regime in charge. This season is the beginning phase and the truth is that it probably won’t be pretty.
