Patriots and Marshall have mutual interest

Part of me wants the Pats to sign Marshall, Revis and Mangold and win another Super Bowl with 3 Jesters on the team.

There would be a mass suicide in New Jersey.

You do realize I don't actually want Marshall. Just saying a guy with zero production has little to do with my reasons.

I totally agree with you. But Marshall would want to be the #1 or #2. Lucien would possibly be a #5.

Nobody is comparing Lucien to Marshall.

There just is no room on this team for Marshall.

Mangold? THAT is an area I would look at.

And Linebackers - - Hightower plus two more FA's/top draft picks please.

1/3?

Revis took many hot steaming public dumps on the Patriots after he left. I hope fans would treat him like Goodell.

Marshall? See the above.

Mangold - - DO IT!!!!!!

.

If Floyd signs here for the discount (especially with his situation), let Lucien get 4 games experience. Kick the tires on the kid.

Worked out pretty freaking well for the QB situation last year.

At least the Pats would know what they have and it wouldn't be in a do or die situation.
.
It could change but im pretty sure practice gives them a decent view into into what Lucien can or cant do. I would much rather take Marshall on a cheap deal, but I really have a hard time believing that he will want to take a pay cut to come to NE when a WR needy team like Tennessee could offer him a lot more money.

Mangold was hurt and not very effective last year and just not very effective the year before but for some reason people think he is an upgrade over Andrews.

I don't think Marshall's oversized ego can even fit in the Pats locker room. They would need to expand all the doorways to fit his over inflated head.

On the other hand, if Mangold is healthy, that would be someone I could see playing here.

I just dont see any reason why Mangold would come here; at least there is a report that Marshall wants to win a ring but Mangold wants to prove himself as a starting center again and he doesnt want to come to NE and have to beat out David Andrews. Mangold wants to prove himself as a starting Center again and there are better places to do that than NE. I really dont know what Revis would do, it seems like he would have to humble himself to the team after the bridges he seemed to burn with what he said after he left but maybe the team doesn't care. Marshall would make sense but he never struck me as the guy who wanted to take a pay cut and lose playing time to win a ring.

somehow Moss' did.

I have a hard time believing that Devin Lucien is anything more than a PS guy who could top out as Chris Harper or Brian tyms

Maybe, maybe not.

But we have 5 solid WR if Floyd re-signs.

The Pats don't need to throw big bucks at a 33 year old WR who doesn't know the playbook..

It's nice to have a guy on the PS who might have some potential and can be tried out a bit in his 2nd year under minimal pressure while Floyd sits the first 4 games.

What's not to like?

.

he will be raven.

Mangold hasn't given up a sack in his last 33 games, the only issue is his ankle, not his play.

Mangold started 15 games in 2015 and was named to the Pro Bowl.

.
which is why I said injured this year, as for the Pro Bowl its all about names for Offensive lineman. Remember Jeff Saturday making it from the Packers bench?

Only for a little bit before he imploded
Well we arent asking Marshall to stay for 5 years, we are entertaining the idea of him coming in at all. A lot of people said Moss was too much of a headcase and would work out in NE, he managed to have a 23 TD season.

So to you, Marshall is a bigger need at WR than Nick Mangold at Center?

That's funny, throughout the playoffs, I and most others saw our WR corps as such an area of strength that the Patriots were ok with going with just 4, while opposing teams were all moving their DL personnel to hover over our center.

.

Offseason stinks, so much speculation and everything is a news headline. To kill time until free agency, what do you guys think of this? Do we really need Marshall? Would he take vet minimum? Can he pick up the offense?

Don't want Butterfingers here. Not a clutch player and is a whack-a-doddle.

I dont ever believe those stats but Ankle injuries are serious for anyone, especially Offensive lineman. Plus his run blocking has been bad for several seasons now and his pass blocking has only gotten worse imo. Could he be a marginal upgrade over Andrews? Sure, but I don't think it will matter because I think he wants to go somewhere where the Center job is his to lose.

Correct but in retrospect Moss was never accused by his teammates of being a locker room problem. Moss became a problem for coaches and ownership only when he felt the team was disrespecting him financially (IE not giving him a new deal).

Marshall gets paid and is a locker room problem.

Your exact words: "....and just not very effective the year before"

Ivan just pointed out to you that he has given up just one sack in the past 33 games. Simple math shows that includes 2015.

Please define "not very effective" for a center.
