Patriots 2013 Training Camp: Day 6, Thursday August 1

You aren't paying attention. There are a handful that post only, and I mean only, about the 3rd string QB.

A handful... like 5 people? Is that such a big deal? Anyways, I post about other stuff here, so maybe there's only four. I can only think of one.

Sure the Pats could carry three QB if the want, but is smart to in this year. With Gronk potentially out and a whole new receiving corp, the Pats may need that roster spot to carry an extra TE or WR. Maybe they can get it from somewhere else by carrying one less defender or o-lineman or RB. But on this team, a third QB is a luxury. And that luxury may take away from a necessity especially if the Pats decide not PUP Gronk and he isn't ready to play for 2-3 weeks into the season.

And like everything on this board, it is my personal opinion and no inside information. But looking from the outside looking it, it would be smarter to carry an extra receiver on the roster than an extra QB.

I think they plan on him being on the field contributing from the get go based on this tweet ...but you never know

Belichick and McDaniels let their hair down a little offensively with Tebow. No, I can't give specifics. Guessing you'll see it a PS gm soon

I think we need to just embargo Tebow's name on this board and be done with it. It never ceases to amaze me how many words are banged out discussing such a marginal player. It's like a contagion at this point.

Disclaimer: While I don't think he's a particularly good player, I have nothing against Tebow myself, and I don't care if he makes the team or not.

Different topics bring out different posters.

To be fair to Deus, I pulled the B word out first. I really can't come up with any other reason some people hate him so much. He has a bad day, and people rip him, he has a good day, and people rip him, he shows marked improvement and people rip him, Belicheck uses him in interesting formations, and people rip him, he plays pass with a kid at the end of practice and people rip him.

As soon as he was signed people started ripping him because of all the Tebow groupies that would show up, know what, hasn't happened, the only people that have arrived and aren't adding anything good are the Tebow haters.

So, yep stand by the Bigot call.

I'm not exactly paying close attention but it seems to me people aren't really ripping tebow as much as they are just saying he isn't good. That isn't ripping that is a reasonable opinion.

It's the "secret Tebow offense" part II

Re: Patriots training camp, day 6

Then Sir, I have no idea what you are complaining about.

I wasn't complaining, I was correcting. He said no one was just talking about Tebow. That was not correct.

^ This.

The problem is any critical or objective analysis of TT's abilities almost always leads to an accusation of "hating"... when that couldn't be further from the truth.

Perhaps you might read this thread.

I don't care to. Saying Tebow is not a good player is not ripping him IMO it is making a pretty aware evaluation.
I couldn't care less about anything else regarding him. He is a 3rd string QB who I pay as much attention to as a 3rd string QB should get. I have no interest in reading volumes about him.
My point remains, it is ridiculous to use the word bigot.

"Can't throw a forward pass" is not objective analysis... its hyperbole... and its used a lot. There's claims that there are extremes on both sides... people saying he sucks and can't play at all and people who say he's the best. The problem is I can point to post after post after post of the former (heck... just listen to Adam on the PFW podcast yesterday), but you'd be hard pressed to find a single post from any of the HORDES of Tebow "zealots" like me saying he's the best... or even using crazy terms like great or above average... you won't find it.

Why is that surprising? Saying he is a terrible NFL QB is a reasonable argument. Saying he is the best is completely out if the realm of sensible.

Your argument is like saying Hernandez critics say he is a murderer but his supporters don't say he deserves sainthood so the critics are over the top

You know who else sucks? Chris McDonald. I can't believe how much people talk about him. I can't wait until he is cut so all the Chris McDonalds zealots will finally stop talking about how he is so much better than Mankins and leave this board.

This will probably trigger the poo flinging, again, but it's being noted by multiple reporters, so we might as well get it over with. Here goes;

Did the fan he's throwing passes to blow his back and ACL out trying to go back to an errantly thrown ball?

bravo!!!!!

I've seen him throw. It's not that hard.

Andy as moosekill has stated you should read the whole thread and you will see the bigotry against Tebow. Dues, was kind enough to post updates on Tim Tebow after training camp and the craziness ensued after. Take the quotes I quoted as examples. I mean a reporter reporter that Tebow was the last on the field after practice throwing the ball to a young fan in a Tebow jersey. Yet in this thread was blasted for it.

More hyperbole.... go figure

That isn't bigotry.

That isn't bigotry.

Agree... but using the term popehats (or whatever was said) points to a bias against religion which may not go as far as bigotry, but definitely water down any negative argument coming from such a person as it may be tainted by said bias.

I'm saying this as an agnostic who is about the least religious person you'll ever meet.

I really like tebow. And I wish you would all shut up about him.

That isn't bigotry.

Well Andy if you don't see bigotry against Tebow after going through this entire thread than we'll have to agree to disagree. The bigotry against Tebow by some is very strong.
