I was hopeful for Austin the end of last year, but he was hurt and a non factor until this week.
I think he has the kind of Alpha attitude and cover skills to be a starting CB. If he can solidify these last 4 games, we could have a young cheap duo for the next few years.

The core D for '25: Barmore, White, Jennings, Bentley, Elliss, Gonzo, Austin, Peppers.
They need to dump: Dugger, Godchaux, Ekuale, Takitaki
Must find: EDGE, DT, LB, S

1) I would move Dugger and Godchaux to "core"; they are going nowhere. How well they perform might be in question.
2) Marcus Jones is part of the core.
3) I would extend Wise and continue to have him as part of the core D. He has played well this year.
4) Takitaki is a solid, core STer, as was Wilson who he replaced.
5) Ekuale should go.
6) We need to find another top CB
7) Jonathan Jones should probably go, although I would be OK with him being re-signed.

CORE 2025 DEFENSE (probably adding only 2 front 6 top players, making a total of adding 4 key players)
DL: Godchaux, Barmore, Wise, ADD1
EDGE: White, Jennings, ADD2
LB: Tavai, Bentley, Ellis, ADD3
CB: Gonzo, M Jones, Austin, ADD4
S: Peppers, Dugger, ADD5
