Overreaction Monday 2022

How do you know Mac is leading a franchise somewhere?

He might not be. We don't know. But he's just played one game into his second season, after winning 10 games and posting legitimate numbers as a rookie. He at least offers the HOPE of leading a franchise somewhere. Geno Smith doesn't.

We stink and it was painful, hours later, to watch Tom Brady come out, and despite issues with his own O line (particularly in the redzone), make it look easy and easily get the win (oh, and his D was way better too). Okay, thanks.

After 3 years, people still don't get the fact that Bucs are way more talented than NE is...ya think that's helping Brady?

Except that the Bucs weren't much until they got...Brady.

QBR is an awful stat made up by ESPN in an effort to appear relevant.
The biggest problem with QBR is that it is a statistic that gets subjectively evaluated. Aside from the fact that they don't let anyone know the formula, they literally have people watch the QBs play and evaluate, for example, whose fault an INT was. Lord knows the competency of the people making those determinations.

FIFY

Of course they weren't going to win a lot of games with bad quarterbacking...but they had Evans, Fournette, Brown, Gronk, White, David, Davis, Winfeld, Wirfs, Jensen, etc, to help Brady, That's way more talent than NE has had over the years. It's not like Brady guided a team with crap players to the Super Bowl.

No, he attracted some good players and got everyone to believe, then he guided them to the Superbowl. Honest to God MAC10, can't you give Brady credit for anything? The man is 45 years old and he's still got it. The Pats have talent. We were over the moon last year with the free agent moves. We were over the moon with drafting Mac Jones. We were over the moon getting Parker. Our players have been under producing for quite a stretch now. Mac doesn't seem confident. Coaching seems disfunctional. It can be fixed, there's still time this year but they need to start progressing. Pittsburgh is down a pro bowl defender and have a jag quarterback. We have a winnable game Sunday. We need to win it.

LOL, I invite you to look at the name of the thread. And, the only stat that counts, W-L, is not even part of this bogus stat line.
how is the stat line bogus? QBR is bogus. The stat line is fact. Brady did not "make it look easy" last week. Fournette and the defense made it look easy. Brady had a mediocre game, same as Mac.

Can we get back on topic. We all know football is the "ultimate team game" and it's not a 1 man sport. Let's get off this Brady vs Mac conversation please.

At least we're getting away from the BB vs TB talk for now.

Thanks,

Ash

On-topic: Thank you OP for opening this thread. It'll serve as a wall of shame once the Patriots get back on track this week and have a decent season once all is said and done.

I like baseball advanced stats like OPS+ and how that measures how good you are relative to your peers at hitting. ERA+ for pitching. 100 means you're average and anything above or below that is above or below your peers.

Thought ESPN's QBR was like that but I guess it's more complicated.

Back in the first year of the stat, there was a Pats game, I think it was against Dallas with a scrub playing QB for them. And the Pats won by something like 30 points, and Brady was something like 20-27 for 275 with 2 TDs and 0 ints. The Dallas QB (Weeden I think) was something like 25 - 40 with 0 TDs and 1 INT and the QBR for the two of them was almost the same.

Then later in the same season, Brady was 33-42 again with 2 TDs and no INTs, less yards per attempt and his QBR was nearly 3 times higher. I think 32 in the first game and 86 in the second game.

Theres a good chance thats not an over reaction.
The rest of the league is playing checkers while the Pats are... still playing the pre-season into October.

Jacksonville can win the South
