Yes, and I am replying to your assertion that if Zappe is #2, something is wrong with Drake. That is exactly what my post addresses.

By saying "calm down", you are engaging in a logical fallacy, called the Tone Policing Fallacy. Instead of dealing with my argument, you are asserting that I have become emotional (and you are wrong, btw). I don't appreciate it. It's manipulative and underhanded. I've been nothing but polite to you. Deal with the arguments I am making, and don't worry about my emotional state.
Ok. To help you better understand. We are on a forum, thoughts, opinions and information given by our great mods. @Ian @Ross12 @mike_usagisan @jmt57. Who all run the forum excellent, and provide a site for us the fans.

Please don't misinterpret my post as it can be very confusing sometimes especially when so many different conversations are going on all at once. I just wanted to share this to give you a better sense of things.

Just based on last year I think Sow is ahead of Mafi but Mafi was picked higher so maybe he makes the bigger leap year 2. And we also signed Leverett too.

I think we actually have some pretty good depth on the line this year. Still obviously a big question mark as to who the LT will be. But if we can get some cohesion at the other 4 spots I think we'll be ok.

Is that every snap or highlights lol jk.

Very nice read on his interception and you can see he plays physical and not just for a corner he seems to play with an edge that reminds me of DMac a little.
Well considering he really didn't play much until late last season (when j.jones was out again lol ) it's his highlights.. he really didn't have much lowlights. I wasn't expecting him to play that well.

Yeah he does. He's physical and plays with a tenacity.

I get not wanting to rush Maye. And if he's not ready then he's not ready. But Zappe and Jacoby aren't really stiff competition so yes if Maye doesn't beat one or both of these guys in camp then I will be mildly concerned. I won't make any big judgements but concern will creep up. And especially so if he hasn't passed one or both by mid-season.

The ability to play better than them, and his position on the depth chart, don't necessarily correspond for this season.

And now you’re gaslighting me. I’m moving on (and blocking you).

Yeah I get it mechanics or whatever else might make it so he seems better but isn't ready yet but then again if he seems better he might have to work through some things on the field. It's kind of a tricky spot because it's too important to rush but also you owe it to the whole team to play the best man.

I mean if I'm Thornton and it's my last chance and I get get saddled with a lesser QB because you're worried about a hitch or footwork that would piss me off or Henry who has struggled through Mac and Zappe how do foist Jacoby on him if he clearly sees Maye is better just because you're worried about rushing it.

Agree.

Few things to consider. J. Jones is 31, injury prone and played outside basically due to necessity last 2 seasons. He played well, but had his issues with the elite WRs. His skill set is better suited in the slot especially at his age. Marcus is the quickest guy on the team. We will play multiple DBs so he will be on the field in some capacity. Austin was a starter by seasons end Last year. He possess great instincts, Foot work, ball skills and he's physical. He will need to continue his growth and carve out a starting role ,becuase the RCB position opposite Gonzo is up for grabs. J. Jones has the inside track being a veteran and he's played it. But if we have out full compliment of guys I'm thinking mayo likes him inside. Marcus will return to all pro returner/slot CB. Guys just elite with his speed.
Seems like consensus is the top 4 CBs are:
Gonzo
Jon Jones
Marcus Jones
Alex Austin

There are 11 CBs on the roster, so behind those four are another half dozen players. Will any of them emerge as outstanding contributors?

Looks like at least some of them have potential.
Isaiah Bolden - injured early in his rookie year last year. Great RAS, Deion Sanders prototege, son of former NFL CB.
Shaun Wade - Ravens drafted in 2021, traded to Pats in preseason 2021, has played in 20 games for Patriots.
Marco Wilson - Cardinals fourth round pick in 2021, 37 starts, Pats claimed when waived by AZ last December.
Marcellas Dial Jr. - rookie listed as DB, played CB for SC in SEC.

Others are pretty much unknowns:
Kaleb Ford-Dement - UDFA rookie
Azizi Hearn - former LV UDFA, spent last year on Pats PS
Mikey Victor - UDFA rookie

Apart from the Joneses they’re all listed at 6’0”/190 or more. It will be fun to watch the competition for the back of the roster CB slots. Wonder if any of these guys will get a shot at safety?

Great information. You know something we have deep group of CBs that are all young, some unproven and others trying to make a name in the league. I'd say Dial, Bolden and Wade all have a chance to be contributing this season.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?

I mean, if you’re Thornton and you’re “saddled with a lesser QB” it’s because you’re playing like a lesser WR.

don’t get pissed, get better. Oops, have had years to get better and didn’t. Hang them up and go cry in your beer. Or show your stuff and earn playing time.

Isiah Bolden looked promising before he got hurt. He could be a prime candidate to lock down the 2nd qb spot.
I was hoping he would emerge as a top performer in camp last year. Now I’m hoping his injury did not completely derail his career. I think if he plays to his potential he could be one of our top two CBs. After the draft last year I was even wondering if he might be a surprise challenger to Gonzo for the top spot.

TY. I was intrigued by Wade when we picked him up from Baltimore. IIRC they had two promising rookie CBs and only room on the roster for one so we stole Wade in a pre-cutdown trade. I was hoping he would emerge sooner, was on the verge of giving up on him, but he has started to earn playing time so maybe there’s still hope. He is still fairly young.

I disagree, They need to do what is best for The Franchise and Maye, and if working on this mechanics and knowledge of the game is best, so be it.

A guy like Thornton just doesn't matter, he'll ether play well enough with Brissett to stick, or he wont. The guy has caught 50% of the passes thrown his way, a better receiver would make the most of any opportunity.

Brissett is a pro's pro, he has stuck in the league, he has done what is asked of him, and generally won't make back breaking mistakes, he is an upgrade over the last two seasons.

Or Polk or Baker. It's their rookie year and you're going to make them play with Jacoby even if Maye is better? But I chose Ty for a reason because it's his last chance and he wants the guy that will make him look better no one is giving him until next year even if Maye needs that long to figure out his footwork.

Don't get me wrong I don't want to rush Maye and I fully agree it's the most important thing for the franchise right now. Just saying it becomes a tricky thing to manage if he quickly looks like the best QB and we're just holding him back because of some concern over mechanics/footwork.
