OT: UFL uses six 4K cameras, not two sticks and a chain, to measure for first downs

I guess it's part tradition and part the drama.

I guess it's part tradition that the billionaire owners are too cheap to pay for the high def cameras needed to use a system like that in the NFL... those luxury suite renovations & new "worlds record largest outside/inside 9000k" video boards don't come cheap
fixed that for you, no charge

Not watching, but this sounds interesting.
You should give it a try. I couldn't watch either league last spring. The play was terrible. They merged the leagues, eliminated half the teams and the result was solid football play across the league.

I was surprised by the level of play. Don't like some of fox gimmicky camera angles and things TV related. But the game itself is solid. I like the no kick extra points rules. It's worth giving it a shot. I am thinking about going to the DC game this weekend.

The fact that in 2024 the NFL still uses sticks with chains and 60 something year old men to judge where the ball stopped is insane. The league has enough money 10x over to get a better system than this.

I think even when it's 3rd or 4th and a coach wants a measurement to see how far his team is away from the marker, with this system he should be able to get that info fast without the tedious chain dragging drama.
