RIP.

You changed my mind, Tim. A walk IS just as good as a home run there. /s

@Ian you thought he was always a good one? I always thought he was a Dodger, lol... for some reason, always got a bunch of his Philly cards in the Topps card packs when i was a kid... sad to say many of them were brutalized in the spokes of my bicycle...

RIP to him

Sad news, always thought he was a good one:

Just watched "After Jackie" on a plane (about the 60's Cardinals with Curt Flood, Bill White and Bob Gibson), Seemed like Tim was a good dude.

I wonder if what he said in the 70s when he was his personal catcher is true and he will be buried 60 feet 6 inches from Steve Carlton?

81 is a pretty good run. Rest in Peace...

Steve Carlton’s personal catcher brought a lot to the game as a player & announcer.

RIP - You will be missed

The year I arrived at NAS Memphis TN after boot camp, 1978, was the re-birth of the Memphis Chicks franchise as a double-A affiliate of the Montreal Expos... They played their games at a newly-built park in the LibertyLand complex east of downtown, and it was named after local Memphis legend Tim McCarver... Saw a few games there during my 13+ months in Millington including the 1979 season when they had a starting infield of Dave Hostetler, Tim Raines, Tony Phillips & Tim Wallach...

I wish the Sox had hung-on to McCarver for another season or two after they first got a hold of him in 1974, because he had been Anti-RedSox ever since they released him the following year...
