RIP Matt Stevens

It took me a minute to remember. In 2007 Stevens was paralyzed from the waist down after a motorcycle accident, but after several years of rehabilitative therapy had regained ability to walk.

Link to his profile/bio here, for anybody interested.

Stevens' injury was debilitating. A severe spinal cord injury paralyzed him from the chest down. Both his shoulders were broken, both lungs punctured, his heart bruised and he had multiple internal injuries. The prospects didn't look good.

But the human body and mind are amazingly resilient, when you have inner strength and especially when you have the support of friends and family.

After three years in a wheelchair, Matt Stevens can stand and move again, like a bionic man, without his wheelchair.

Living in Philadelphia, Stevens attends ReWalk therapy three times a week at MossRehab, in Elkins Park, at the Albert Einstein Healthcare Network. MossRehab says they are conducting clinical trials of ReWalk, a "motorized, quasi-robotic, lightweight, wearable brace support suit with powered joints, rechargeable batteries, an array of sensors and a computer-based patient control system."

David Patten is the only other one who has since then passed? Well, technically Terry Glenn too….

Marquise Hill was not on the 2001 team.

Any others I am missing?

Charles Johnson, Kenyatta Jones, Leonard Meyers, and a couple lesser known players Riddick Parker and TJ Turner. So the total is 8 now from that team

I saw this yesterday. That’s too bad. I remember him on the team, I just remember him playing at S as much as he did.

Goodspeed good sir.

Taken the very next pick after Teddy Bruschi... I remember him from that draft while also learning of Lawyer Milloy & JeRod Cherry, so I was glad he was signed here and sad that he wasn't re-signed for his final couple of years... RIP.

I liked him as a blue collar type player. Sorry he was unprotected in the expansion draft for Houston, and even more sorry of his passing. RIP
