I know nothing about this show and have never watched it.

To be clear, it's not that the Patriots are ineligible to appear; it's that they are not "eligible" for the NFL to force them to appear if no one volunteers.

Teams are exempt if any of the following are true:

• They've made the playoffs in either of the past two seasons (2014 and 2015, in this case).
• They have a new head coach.
• They've appeared on the show in the last ten years.

I like your thinking. There's some merit to what you say. Long shot for sure but I wouldn't totally dismiss it.

The NFL is just going to use it as inner big commercial for the Rams to try and get interest up. They are going to look really bad if they are drawing poorly. After all, they only did this because it was what fans really wanted........

The "Hard Knocks" episode I want to see is the one where grinning Jackassdell comes waltzing out of his favorite Park Avenue elitist bistro and gets set upon by a dozen burly thugs with billy clubs...after a good old fashioned skull bashing, the thugs whip out a bag of dog shyt and stuff it down his throat and leave a sign on him reading...
