Yep, some dipstick writer in Green Bay voted for Favre. I remember the writer being interviewed on WEEI, he admitted that Favre didn't deserve to be MVP, he knew that Brady was going to win MVP in a landslide so he gave Favre a vote as a tribute, or some such BS

It's those type of idiots that make these type of votes meaningless. Maybe it's time to take voting power away from sports writers.

I absolutely wouldn't. Have you ever listened to players opine about other players or topics of the day? They're not collectively the most learned, scholarly bunch.

The numbers show that the NBA 3 point % has gone up steadily since 1980, with the highest % occurring during the shortened line from 95-97.
They also show that the NBA 2 point % has gone down slightly since then.
And the free throw % has also gone down slightly.

What conclusions can we draw from those numbers?

I think they show that getting off a 3 point shot is easier than getting shots off nearer the basket where there's more traffic. That's why when the 3 point line first came into play Red proclaimed that teams should get more points for getting off a shot closer to the basket, not farther away.

They're the ones in the trenches, fighting with those players. They know exactly who is or isn't the toughest.

I don't disagree, but the personal opinions on PED usage is giving writers an out. I hate the way Hall voting is done anyway. I'm of the opinion that if a guy isn't good enough to get in on the first ballot, he's not a Hall of Famer.

I don't think we can say that the players are the worst to vote until they get that chance and we see what happens. I already know that the writers make mistakes in all sports.

I was watching the Sox a couple of nights ago and they had Clemens in the booth. In that moment the issue resurfaced in my mind...

I cannot stand the high horse the BBWAA have taken on this issue. Without proof and never having been suspended by MLB, they have way overstepped their responsibility.

Believe that he took PEDs or not, he was never suspended for PED use and MLB's drug policy (or lack thereof) basically looked the other way on the issue b/c the game hurting. With his lifetime of achievements, he is a 1st ballot HoF without question.

While a loathsome character, Bonds needs to go in as well. Same for Sosa, Palmerio, Bagwell, McGwire, etc. Maybe Manny too.

We can just agree to disagree on this one. I believe that people who have a personal stake in something shouldn't be voting on awards for other players. There's a reason that people who have a personal connection to a criminal defendant won't serve on the jury.

I don't necessarily disagree with you. I could see players voting in their pals who might get a bonus if they made the pro bowl, but I wouldn't mind seeing the players get a chance to prove you right.
