OT: Staley Fired in LA

A loaded team, anything less than a SB for the next coach for the LAC would be a failure.
A. “Loaded” is a stretch.
B. Telesco won’t pay Bill a $20m salary, if there is not a significant salary offset from what Kraft will owe him.

EDIT: Meant Spanos, not Telesco (RIP)

They aren't as promising as people are making them out to be. Keenan Allen will be 32. Might be gone. Other than Herbert, there are holes at mostly every position.

Belichick would be a huge improvement over Staley. But the Chiefs and Broncos will make additions too.

Only question I have is whether Spanos will give Kraft a call?

And would Belichick be willing to go to L.A. to take on this Charger team WITHOUT a first round pick?

Things could get ugly if BB doesn't want to give up a draft pick and tries to get himself fired instead....
Bill would play hardball if it were him calling the shots. Kraft should 100% do the same. Bill ran the thing into the ground, Kraft should extort whatever he can, because that's what Bill would do.

2nd rounder for Bill, if Bill will play along could be a good end game all around. Bill would make that team, which has talent, better. Pats could sure use another top 50 pick

I have a hard time thinking we can get anything solid for Bill. With all of the reported leaks and a separation seeming like a foregone conclusion, what leverage do the Krafts really have? If I’m an owner of an NFL team and I think Bill can get me a superbowl, I’m coughing up whatever it takes but, I’m not an owner. It’ll take some balls to trade away high draft picks in an attempt to win now for a guy that has 2-3 years left. Look what Brady did in TB though. If you can get that type of impact, have a guy like BB come in and reset your organization for you and show you what it takes, a 1st seems like a bargain to me.

From the Chargers' perspective... Belichick can draft guys in the late rounds...which is what the Chargers will have to do...and Belichick can damn well fix that defense...I mean Mack and Bosa? That is giving BB a lot to work with. And as for the offense, BB will have to hire someone...probably McDaniels. And just having BB on game days not going for it on 4th down in their own end of the field and properly managing the clock...

If BB were coaching the Chargers last year...no chance do they lose in round 1 of the playoffs...they would have been in the divisional round with a shot at upsetting the Chiefs in Arrowhead.....

Plus Bill will want his new team to have every possible advantage. Trading away draft picks to get him will undermine their appeal for him.

Telesco was fired too...

It is an entire FO/HC opening....

And as you said BB is under contract...am sure Kraft won't mind picking up the off-set if we get a pick out of it.

I am fine with even a 2nd or a 3rd....anything for a coach who isn't gonna be here in 4-5 years anyway...

Would be pretty cool to see Bill go there, get his **** together and have a good playoff season or two. I hate to see Bill’s legacy being diminished here, despite his complicity in it.
There are several possible landing spots. I’m not sure Chargers are his best bet.

how much cap space do they have? How about Washington?

I just can't believe it took this long.

I am a bit surprised Telesco is also gone. I don't think they have been particularly bad as a front office. JC Jackson was a huge overpay, but otherwise they seem like they've drafted well as far as I can remember. Staley has just been really terrible.

What about Bill as the Saints HC if they fire Allen? Another very good team with a terrible HC. Thomas is likely moving on. They have Kamara & Olave. D is a bit older.

I'm shocked Spanos actually fired Telesco. He could be making a big move for Bill in the offseason.

I think the multi year deal is the key component. From my seat, Kraft holds all the cards, Bill's under contract. If Bill wants to coach, Kraft needs to let him out of the contract. Why would Kraft do that, other than to get out of the money? Bill's expiration date may or may not have already come and gone, you know, Best if used before _____. If Bill wants to coach in the next two years someplace else, someone has to go thru Kraft. If not, does Bill wait until he's 75? I don't see that.

Why? Don't want him out west?

Amazing he lasted that long. Stud QB, good receivers, versatile running back and couldn't get them to score points. He was a defensive guy with Joey Bosa, Khalil Mack, and Derwin James and couldn't field a competent defense.
