OT: Russell Wilson traded to Denver

I see no reason why Pats can't give BUF a run in the AFCE. We know from experience each year starts over, each year you have go prove it. If they think it'll just happen because Allen is at QB, it's trouble. We know BB will be re-tooling his D to specifically face the Bills and other similar style offenses in the conference. Look at Bengals this year, they gained confidence and went and took it.
Forget the division for at least next season. It's not happening. Their path to the wild card just got tougher too.

Then you don't know football. They were the #1 seed in this year's AFC, even being without most of their offensive weaponry for a big chunk of the season.. That's pretty much a textbook example of a top tier team.
And Tannehill ruined their season all by himself with one of the worst playoff performances imaginable. He sucks. When your quarterback sucks you're usually not a legitimate contender. You don't understand the significance of the quarterback.

This is the same team who lost to the Jets and Texans and got absolutely smoked by the Patriots. Their running back is an absolute freak. His workload being what it's been, along with his running style, and his age, he'll be done in 3 seasons.

Congrats to Seattle. This is one of the best trades of all time (or worst depending on which side you sit.

Denver isn't one player away from winning in the next two years, not close.

After two ugly years, Denver gets to start over, presumably with a new coach and a new GM.
Denver will be winning again and competitive which is really all their fans want right now. They weren’t used to what happened since Manning left.

Good move for Denver in terms of finally getting a QB. They want to win now. Wilson had 1 losing season in Seattle. He is definitely a 10 - 11 win QB. Its not like he didn't come from a completive NFCW division and is being thrown to the wolves in the AFCW.

Real good move for Wilson. He goes to a Denver team that in 2021 had 2 RBs with over 1100 combined rushing/receiving yards. WRs Parker and Sutton are good enough. Juedy comes off an injured 2021 and will hopefully turn some heads this season. Adding another WR wouldn't be wrong. Losing Noah Fant hurts, so Denver needs a TE.

Great long-term move for Seattle. They looked at LA Rams and Cincinnati and saw the path to winning in the future by hauling in all those draft picks to restock the Seahawks. Plus, they are likely picking relatively high in the 2023 draft with their own picks. I mean, Jmarr Chase transformed the Bengals into a contender.

I would not have spent all those draft picks, but I can see Denvers reason for doing so.

Always amuses me to hear Pink Hats whining when the Pats give up a conditional 7th on some WR who may or may not pan out. Yet the same Pink Hats always see the logic in a team giving up multiple firsts and multiple seconds and players and other picks on a QB who may or may not pan out.

The amount that Denver gave up for Wilson is absolutely insane.
Fant, two 1st round picks, 2 Second round picks.

I wonder if Seattle is targetting Willis in the draft.
I feel the same
And shelby Harris i wanted him here last year

The AFC West and NFC West play each other next year. Here the Chiefs opponents with the first place schedule:

Chargers x2
Broncos x2
Raiders x2
Rams
Titans
Bills
at Colts
at 49ers
at Cardinals
at Bengals
at Bucs (possibly Brady returns)

That's 12 games versus teams that finished over .500, 2 games against Denver, and just 3 games against other sub-.500 teams.

Wow that's a brutal schedule on paper

You left out the Jaguars at home. And the Seahawks. And at the Texans. That's 3 wins right there.

Their road schedule may not be that difficult... if the Colts and 49ers hold onto their current QBs and the Bucs go with Gabbert or Trask then those 3 games are winnable. At Cardinals and at Bengals should be good matchups. That vs Bills game will be the matchup of the regular season. Their division is tough but I don't see them going worse than 4-2.

Overall difficult schedule but Mahomes is an automatic 11 wins. 12-5 probably wins that division, that's doable for KC, even with the tough schedule.

Remember too every team in that division has similar opponents. Denver's schedule may be just as difficult... they play the Ravens instead of the Bengals, the Panthers instead of the Bucs, and the Jets instead of the Bills. That last opponent swap is one big advantage.

This is a good move for DEN despite the price they paid. There were several games they could've won but just couldn't score. I can see them going from 7-10 to 10-7 with Wilson and making the playoffs. Probably not much further though.

Mahomes alone is worth 12 wins.

I'd be stunned if we don't win the division. Barring injuries of course. Knock on wood.

Buffalo is the only team that really scares me. I think they are the one threat to us getting the 1 seed.

Aging? Elite QB's are routinely playing to 40 now in the last few years. There are plenty of ways to make players happy. Pay them more, can the coach, upgrade their supporting cast. They gave up a hall of fame QB who, when healthy, plays like a top 5 QB for a crappy QB, solid but aging D lineman, and young above average TE and two firsts and seconds. Hell they gave up two firsts for Jamal Adams. The Rams gave up two first round picks for Jalen Ramsey who is a good player but not a franchise QB.
Routinely?

May be a semantics issue but when I say aging, I mean the back half of his career, which Russell certainly is.

Not questioning Russell really... I just think given the circumstances, QB money market and what they got, Seattle definitely didn't get "hosed"

I think Seattle made the right move here. Wilson will be 34 in November. He hasn't played great the past few years. They may be the third best team in their division. With or without him, they aren't SB contenders like the Rams, Packers, TB (If they get Brady back). Dallas is better.

Ever since the "Pick", they've never been the same. 7 years. No playoff byes. No NFC title games. Only 3 playoff wins.

In February of 2014, most people would've said they were a team primed to win 3 or 4 SB's.

In fairness to Wilson, he played great for about 1/2 of the season and faded down the stretch in 2020. The first half of that season, he was a legitimate MVP candidate. The second half, not so much.

Mahomes and the Chiefs are proven chokers. Thats 2 AFC Championship chokes and 1 Super Bowl choke in 4 years. Mahomes told us about 17 - 0 and another KC Super Bowl banner. Then, he ran his mouth and said the Chiefs fully expected to beat the Rams in the Super Bowl.

Also, the Chiefs have been extremely lucky and will be finished if Kelce or Hill the wifebeater go out. No way can the Chiefs recover from the loss of either of those receivers.

Not sure you can bet on anything with KC. It seems apparent that there are big issues between the OC/Reid/Mahomes.

Ticket prices just went up again here in Denver. There are ten of thousands of Seattle refugees living here. Wonder if they will switch allegiances. RW is a huge star. I think loyalties might follow him to his new team. Kinda like another QB we all know.
